AGP card or slot dead????

sorry must have skipped over that. I pulled the CMOS batt overnite and booted to setup/BIOS the next morning. On the original video card. edit time/date and tried to launch Windows--no luck. finally put in my XP-CD but can't repair or install (due to MB management). tried different pairs of my Mushkin. since I can't boot with my 80 GB backup, it must be the motherboard??I have not pulled that yet. I have another version 865 that may work. or not. worth a try. not sure about trying to find a 2003 motherboard anywhere.
If I build another machine, I can pri/slave this 320 GB HD in it. not sure about dual boot, may stay with XP.
Before I strip this one apart, any other ideas to try? appreciate all the help. really do. ran

just booted up on the other D865GLC motherboard, more of a business board. The other 865PERL was top of the line. temps seem OK. No problems switching over, with the original HD. Original video works also. thanks guys, for the help!

Congrats!..atlast!...by the way, the D865GLC has an onboard video, can go upto 64mb, but no "hardware transform and lighting"...are you running with the intel built -in video? or installing your AGP card?

I would like to upgrade my system..I want a newer model dual core to replace my Pentium D.

I powered it up with the original Radeon 850-256MB . Too bad I didn't grab a 3.0 GB cpu for it. Didn't know if it would work. I tis rebooting maybe 30-45 mintues at times. will probably build a new machine after the holidays. possible reinstall XP. not sure yet. just fingers crossed for now. thanks again. maybe more questions later.

Time to get a Mac! haha jk, Looks like you tried everything. Sounds like a bad motherboard to me. Just build a new system, get the new Intel i7 processor, and you will be set for at least a month or two.

Ya, maybe after theholidays. The 3.4GB my wife has, is faster than mine. Too bad she does not game with it. This mobo is stable enough now. No out of the ordinary reboots. even games nice now. yes Santa, a full time job for some fun $$.
