Air Bag System Problem

My MIL light came on the other day. I took it in to the delear and was told the air bag ring on the steering wheel is defective. It is kinda like a donut that is behind the steering wheel. It detects the rotation of your steering wheel. They should have the part on Monday.
The S.E Rep was there at the dealer, I ckicked myself for not approaching him in regards to my seat. He was the one that told me face to face that they would have a fix in 2-3 months. That was in January. I will pursue this issue. My warranty is up in 6k miles on my basic.

Your MAINT light came on, and they said you have a defective airbag-ring-thing?

The MAINT light indicates your 5000 mile interval between oil changes is up. Shouldn't a defective airbag system component be indicated by the AIRBAG warning light?

I said MIL, which stands for Malfunction indicator lamp. The maint light says "maint" That means the MIL lamp went on with the SRS icon.

I'm surprised the dealer has not fixed an issue related to your air bags. I'd go and bug then about it. Better yet, get a hold of the general manager and state that this problem has not been resolved and you don't feel safe or something to that effect. I'm sure they'll be able to fix it ASAP if they understand your situation. Heck I would as I wouldn't want to drive that vehicle knowing that the airbag doesn't work.
