Hi everyone!

I own a 94 with 210k. I am the second owner and love my Yogi. 2 days ago it started making terrible noise like a knocking coming from right front of my motor. Took it to 410 toyota and they seem to think my A/C bearings are going out.
The guy didnt seem to concerned me driving it like this, But I take care of my rig and Im worried. :) I understand its a spendy fix. Can anyone recommend someone in the S Seattle area? I dont want to pay dealer prices, and I have no idea how to do it myself. I miss the guys at TC's offroad....

Please help a blondie and her rig.! ;)

What engine? 4 or 6 cly? Search CL for a replacement pump (or local junkyards) and swap the whole compressor out.

Its a 3.0l.. Sorry I forgot to add that.. I wouldnt have the slightest clue how to swap it out myself.. Im looking for someone to help me out.. And can I drive it like this or not?

Im willing to pay someone to do it, I just dont feel like going to the dealer.. I know its kinda a spendy fix. anyone?

I believe the AC on the 3.0 is its own belt, and you should take the belt off just in case the pump seizes. Besides that, its fine.

Thanks a mil! The belt was toast so I did go ahead and cut it.. no more noise.. And my Yogi seems to run better. I appreciate the help.. I have a mil other questions, Ill keep a lurkin..

love you guys! xxx

What other questions you have? And how about some pics of Yogi!

Just ask them in this thread and well try to help.

:) I have some pics of Yogi, if I can figure out how to put em up I will..

Ok the great "what oil should I use" debate..

I have high mileage ( 210k ) and a bit of lifter noise but other than that my 3.0l purrs like a kitten. I ran 5/30w high mileage.. Ok worked fine, still some lifter noise.
Is it too late to run synthetic? I have people tell me to swith to 20/50. since its getting colder isnt it going to be hard on my engine cold start? 10/40? yeah its not my first choice.

In my previous cars ( vw beetle 1.8L turbo ) i ran 20/50 synthetic and got 200k out of that motor, but I bought the car brand new.

Someone suggest Slick 50 but again, isnt that stuff like glue? Hard cold start for my motor.

Trying to do the best for Yogi. It doesnt get under freezing in Seattle area much.

Ok there hows that?? ;O)

Dana

I've got 2:1 mix of Royal Purple 5W-30 and Lucas Stabilizer in at the moment. I figure the RP will be good in the cold and the Lucas will be kind to my tired old 22RE.

You might try running M1 synthetic 10w-40(high mile formula), I find it does well even with the winters in WA. It was one of the oils our 3.0 did not want to consume or push out through seals/gaskets.
As far as AC, re-man AC units can be pricey but might be worth the investment with the summer heat. It will probably need to be converted from R12-to the more friendly(and available) R-134 along with a fresh receiver/dryer unit. If I had to estimate, it would probably run $500-1k at an indie.
regards

Thanks everyone! now I have decisions again! :)
