Air drying

Just thought I'd share something I do when I wash my TR4. I use a good quality soap and scrub her good. But what I do to dry it is get out my leaf blower and start at the top and blow all the water off till she is dry. Then just work my way down. Eliminates all the water spots and for the most part eliminates all the hand drying. Just thought I'd share. I use the leaf blower more for the truck than I do in the yard saves time and leaves more time for :beer:

I use "Absorber" then towel. I don't mind the time wiping down my 4R.

I didn't use to either, really liked doing it but after 3 shoulder surgeries and some limitations I had to devise a way to keep her clean and dry. After I give her a good wash, my arms are pretty much done in so I had to "cheat" to dry her off. When you get my age you'll understand............work smarter not harder

So how did you cheat? Wiping down and drying off a vehicle is not hard at all. Plus if you don't get those shoulders and arms moving, you'll feel like being paralyzed unless you really are paralyzed.

not paralyzed by any means........pins, screws ans wires in the shoulders limit how far up my arms can go or amount of circular motion (as in drying) I can do thus the "air drying" my idea of cheating.....kinda like one would get if they used a commercial car wash......which I don't and won't use.................my advise is: kill yourself while you are young, old age is no fun...................:lol:

i use a leaf blower too. not to get it completely dry, but immediately after the rinse, (most of the water sheets off) the leaf blower gets about 99% of the rest of the water off. quick follow up with a towel and i'm ready to wax.

Wouldn't you just be blasting the surface with dirt, etc. in the air at a very high speed? I don't see this as a good idea. I use a water blade, shamois and MF towels. I guess if you had a filtered air source and did it in a very clean environment it might not be that bad...

Doesn't seem to be any dirt....just the air going at high speed. So far it has worked well.................

I've been using the Absorber for YEARS, I have yet to have water marks....

Remember, when throwing it in the laundry, do NOT put in the dryer.....it will destroy it (i learned the hard way)

I honestly never even dry my car. No water spots. I use a car blade for the windows as this is the only area where I see spots.
If you keep your car waxed, hand wash with a good soap then water spots should be minimal.
A leaf blower should work, when I detailed we would use the air compressor to get all of the water out of the jams and to dry it quicker before wax. But now I don’t even dry it. I let her air dry over night if I know I am going to wax.

I always keep mine waxed up, but water spots are inevitable even with soft water. I stick to towel drying the car, but I also use the leaf blower. On the roof, and hood, the blower gets rid of a lot but not all of the excess water that beads up. The best thing the blower is good for is the wheels. Instead of getting my towels all full of brake dust, after cleaning the wheels, the blower takes off the water so there are no water spots. Shiny as new. :biggrin2:

i wonder if its just cause of the darker color car? i never see water spots on mine except for the windows. and those drive me nuts.

Now that you say it I think the color has a lot to do with it. My father used to have a silver Ford Expedition and there were never any water spots. My mothers BMW is a metallic black and that also shows the water spots. I guess thats something else to look at when deciding colors; although I do love the Micah Grey.
