Haha! It's amazing how things can be taken out of context. Here is the rest of the sentence you quoted:

I have read his tests multiple times...his tests say that it doesn't filter as bad and it doesn't provide much more airflow. If you feel the need to run one, then by all means, go ahead. I'll stick with my paper filters...

Wow.....you really like to spin words dont you? I said that they will allow more dirt into an engine....then I showed you actual proof. If you dont like that, then that is fine with me. I wont lose any sleep over that...
I wonder if that is why AEM switched to an oilless system...

I put in the K&N at 62k miles and didn't have to clean the MAF sensor until 108k miles.

your gonna pay $50 to $60 bucks for a new one, mine has only been in there for two months and the rest of the time it's just been stored in the box. id let it go for 20 bucks. but yeah there expensive for a filter.

True Flow do have a good reputation from what I've read. The only issue is they are the oil type filter and require regular maintenance, much more than any other filter. Regular cleaning and re-oiling. Most people aren't prepared to put that kind of effort into it unless they are really looking for very little bit of power gain than can.
Me, I just run OE filters. They suit my driving style and needs just fine.

The major problem with "Bob's" experiment is that it's missing the one aspect of an experiment that legitimizes the experiment, a control. Without a control, there's no experiment.
Think about this:
He tested six filters at 500 miles each. That means there could have been up to 5 months between the first filter and the last filter. That's at least 5-7 weeks between EACH filter tested.
Do you have any idea how many changes can happen to air quality in 5 weeks?
Using the method he used, it is IMPOSSIBLE to make any type of solid conclusion.
I'm honestly not trying to argue with you, if anything just trying to educate you. I don't care what you do with your truck, but posts like "save your engine and don't buy K&N" really tweak me. There are no amout of miles that you can run with a K&N that will ultimately result in engine damage. Remember the golden rule: If you don't know, don't post. I've been in the automotive industry for quite literally half of my time spent on this earth. I've been a tech, a parts guy, a machinist, a high performance engine builder and a tuner. I know.

what !!!!!!!! now where m i gonna get a cleaning kit i took the filter out of the box threw it in and never touched it its been like a year now
Which is exactly why I gave my input. I am not simply speaking about something that I have read about on the internet. I too work on ALL of my own vehicles. I am not a professional mechanic, but I am well educated when it comes to vehicles. I have used a K&N filter on my jeep. It was oiled and installed properly. After about 40K mi, I pulled the intake and the inside of the tube was quite dirty. I switched back to a paper filter and no longer have the problem. Maybe your definition of "engine damage" is different to mine, but I will NOT run a K&N filter on any of my vehicles.
BTW, Bob addressed the issue of driving conditions in his test....he goes on to say that he tested the K&N during the last part of November...when the air is at it's cleanest.
If people want to use a K&N filter, then, at the minimum, I would suggest an Outerwears pre-filter....if it will apply to your application.
