Air Filter Gap

I attached a spectre CAI to the existing box that my old air filter was in however Now i notice that there is a small gap between the clasps in the original air filter box. Does anybody know a good way to seal the gap so I only suck air through the spectre head?

Besides putting the factory filter element in? Not really... You'd have to get some weatherstripping foam and shape around the gap or squish the Spectre cone so it fits better in the airbox.

Why not just get an AFE drop-in dry filter if you really want to keep the factory airbox rather than using something from Kragens?

I am trying to keep the air filter from sucking the air in from the whee well which is where is pulls from now. Ill try a gasket sealer. Thanks

You could always just take a OEM style paper filter and cut all the paper out of it. Use some 3M spray adhesive on the "lid" of the OEM air box where the OEM filter seals and adhere the silicone ring from the OEM filter to the adhesive. This will give you an open air box but still seal it and the ability to still open it.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

AEM also makes a nice DryFlow filter that drops in on our airboxes as well. It's easy enough to clean (spray with the cleaner, backwash, let dry).


OP, ditch the PepBoys stuff.
