Air filter maintenance

On the subject of cleaning MAF sensors brought up here, the air filter comes into focus.

What do you guys do about air filter maintenance: inspect, "clean" and/or replace. How often? OEM, aftermarket or premium (K&N)

New WIX/NAPA every 30k since 1999. Together with plugs, MAF, TB and PCV check.

When it's dirty, which is usually more often than every 30k for me.

OEM Toyota filter whenever I notice it looks grungy – which seems to be about every 25k where I live due to all the agriculture stuff around here kicking up dust. If I didn't use OEM filters, I would use Wix/Napa filters, in fact Wix is probably better than OEM but I'm lazy and just haven't switched over from OEM oil and air filters...but I probably will soon.

I wouldn't put a K&N filter on my truck even if it was free.

Wix and OEM look to be about the same, but WIX have gotten stupid expensive recently, so I switched to OEM because I can get them cheaper.

Funny. After riding dirt bikes for years the thought of oiling and cleaning an air filter in my truck actually makes me sick. So I get it.

Once a year. I use the Fram premium filters from Walmart.

Have been known to use the oba and a blow gun to get dust out of the air filter when it's been excessively dusty and we're out and about. 30,000 is usually too long for what we do.
