Air Lift 1000 Rear Coil Spring

Hello guys. I ordered me the Air lift 1000 last night.

Making a long story short, I woke up at 3;30 am last night and started looking at the forum and saw Antman's first mod. Saying it was the best mod for the price and I decided to buy it online from amazon.com.

I was looking at this for a while now and decided it was time to add more goodies on the truck.

My question is, as a newbie can I instal the kit myself ? I read you have to unscrew the springs /coils. I am not ready to play with that yet. Unless some of you pro's tell me it's a no brainer.

Would appreciate what you guys think. Thank you.

I never pulled my springs, and did it from underneath....

It probably took me two hours longer then jacking it up...but I don't have good jack stands.

Its doable...just a pita.

Ok so if I get this right I can do it myself by jacking the truck safely and getting those airbags in between the coils ?

Yes..

The wheel needs to be lifted off the ground, and I did one at a time. I feed the lines through the rear bumper and they(the fill valves)stick out the bottom of the bumper...not a great spot...but easy to get to to fill.

Hello, I finally got to instal the airlift kit today but I had trouble with the left side. The right side works perfectly but the left one not really.

When I inflate it it's ok but when I want to lower the pressure to 5 psi it's like it is jammed or something the air doesn't come out when you press on the little thing ( sorry for the bad vocabulary, french dude here ) .

I am thinking it might be the valve that is defect or the hose. Your insight would help. As it is a pain to install those things without removing the coils.

On top of that while I was working on the truck I saw 2 things that pissed me off.

Water or condensed water leaking from the exhaust pipe. That is not normal.
Truck is still under warranty so I will call them tomorrow.


Again for the air lift I am a bit frustrated as the left side not doing what it is supposed to do. And no I didn't T them together because I want to control each side. ( it can help with the leaning the runners have that I read from different posts )

As for picture 1, no thats not dangerous, Im sure its a load range D, so that means its an 8 ply so that wont be a big deal. If you do have a warranty through a tire store they may warranty it out for you though. As far as the exhaust leak its not a major concern but warranty should take care of it for you-

as far as the airlift spring, Im not really sure why it won't let the air out. When your attempting to press the valve is the air spring under the load? (like the 4TR is on the ground and not jacked up)

I'd have it checked out, and wouldn't drive super fast on it until you do.

As far as the airbag...make sure the line isn't kinked.

Could it potentially be a bad valve stem core (long shot)?

Sounds more like a kink in the line, like others have already mentioned, but if it turns out that isn't it, it may be worth stopping by your local auto parts store and picking up a few stem cores and a tool, if you don't already have one. (Super cheap)

I think it is ( kinked ) if that means what I think it does yes since I had trouble with installing he second air bag.

Well I am going to take the hose out and redo the setup this week since I don't have time with work and taking care of the kids... and the wife. :rofl:

Thank you for the help. And for that cut in the tire I will ask them to check it out on my next oil change with the condensed water leaking from the exhaust.

On a side note, to boos my morale. White tail hunting bow hunting season opens this week-end ! That's me in a tree stand in the avatar. Can't wait being all alone up there for 10 hours straight lol. Well you know what they say standing beside a tree give you patience and wisdom

Does model # matter?

I'd like to get a set of these airbags for my 2013 4R but 4Rs are not listed on the Air Lift 1000 site, only FJCs. From what I can tell, it needs to be the 6 series for the rear but Amazon (and the Air Lift 1000 website) lists several different models for the rear. Which one fits the 4R?
