air stuck on hot

My 2002 got stuck on hot/warm air blowing today no matter where I turned the temperature control. Was able to manually fix by locating the cable that controls this under the hood, removing the cable and pushing the lever all the way to the left. Air started blowing cold again.

So what controls that cable and lever exactly? Everything i've found on here so far is related to gen 4 or talking about a relay switch and flashing ac light, which i don't have.

On the firewall in the engine bay there's a valve with tunes running through it. My wager is the cable that adjust the heat blend popped off

Your temperature control knob operates two cables. One goes under the hood near the firewall and shuts off the coolant flow through the heater core when the knob is in the extreme cold position. The other cable runs under the dash near the center console and is pretty easy to see from the passenger floorboard. That one opens and closes the blend door that mixes in warm air from the heater core. The valve under the hood and the blend door should both be completely closed in the extreme cold position. Attach/reattach the cables and adjust accordingly.

That cable just on the other side of the firewall doesn't move at all when I adjust the temperature knob. If I unattach the cable and manually push that lever over, cold air flows.

Its hot when i turn the air on also? did you move to arizona?

Its a common problem with the limited air controller unit.

Hah, no didn't move to Arizona. I can see where the cable just on other side of firewall should push lever over to allow cold to flow but it doesn't move now.

My guess is you'll need the info in this thread ...... Flip the "cog gear" in the servo motor..... Good luck !
