Airbag light blinking intermittently

A few months back my airbag light started blinking intermittently. It doesn't happen all the time. But when it does, it will blink on for a second or two, then off for like 5 seconds. As far as I can tell, there is little rhyme or reason to when it starts blinking. Has anybody else had this issue before. I took it to the dealership and they say they aren't able to diagnose why it is doing it and want to just replace the airbag and wiring for like $1200.

Was there anything heavy on the passenger seat at the time?

Do you have side curtain airbags and what year is this?

Did they give you any DTCs stored in the unit?
