Ajohnson85's '87 build

How the heck can you fit in a parking deck ?! I can barely get into mine with a 4th gen lol.
Looking glam as always! Like the rock lights too. That's a future project for me. Stop making me want a 1st gen too, haha.

Lol, this beast is not much taller than my Tacoma. I still have lights to add, just been lazy lately.

Your 1st gen is sick. I love it. Cant wait till we get to start building my brother in laws 1st gen. we are working on putting a 327 into his 86 2wd truck.

Thanks man. 327 in a 2wd should be pretty sweet! I'm leaning towards a 3rz swap maybe next year. I was looking at a om617 diesel swap but it is too big and I don't want a body lift.

What is the 3RZ? Is that the lexus v8. I looked into the diesel swap too but didnt want to have to worry about having to mount the radiator if the engine was too long.

3rz is the 4 cylinder in the 1st gen tacomas and 3rd gen 4runners. It's a pretty easy swap in place of a 22re with a W56 trans, with a premade adapter harness.

The Benz diesel oil pan is huge under the front of the motor, right where my drag link is. That's the only issue I would have but its a big one.

Would you have to make a custom oil pan and pick up or something like that?

For the 617? Yea I think my drag link would occupy the center of the oil pan lol. It can be notched for IFS trucks and tall SAS's, but my gear box and axle are pushed pretty far forward.

Damn that sucks. I thought about the turbo diesel. One of my buddies is a bmw guy and was trying to get me to swap the bmw engine from my wifes e36 into my runner. Needless to say she laughed.

I went to The Flats off-road park yesterday. It was wet and muddy with all the recent rain but still a lot of fun

The Flats is one of the better local parks around. Glad yall had a good ride...and even better to see some scratches and dents. :bounce:

Haha! I'm not scared of dents and scratches. As you can see I left softopper off cause I AM scared of tearing that up.

I'm glad I got the chance to join a small group, it was a lot of fun. I imagine the trails get clogged up during open rides.
