Hello, I have an interesting problem that surfaced about 2 months ago and am curious if anyone else has experienced it as well.
First off, at time which are totally random I will go out to the Runner and try to start it. The dash lights up and once the key is turned to start, the whole electrical connection drops off. Dash is dead, no windows, and no start. The way I can get my Runner's power back is to pop the hood, shut the door, slam the hood while setting off the alarm. Once I turn the blarring horn off with the key fob, the Runner has all power and will start. Sometimes after this ordeal, the rear window won't work nor the auto up and down on the driver window. Then after another spat, the windows work fine. Also when the power cuts out, the trip meter resets and so does the clock, but the radio presets are still there.
Another interesting little problem that surface, related or not, is when crusing at highway speeds with the cruise control on. Every once in a while the radio will momentarly stop, the vehicle will lerch just a bit, and the speedo will cycle from current speed to zero to current speed. Then it's fine until it happens again. When not driving with cruise control it doesn't happen.
Before you say to take it to the dealer, I already have, but they couldn't find any problem. I am taking it back but would like to find a better way to explain or make the problem happen while there. So thanks for reading and hope ya can help.
