Alarm deactivation question

Ive searched the forums but seem to ask the wrong question so I can't find an answer that is helpful. I'd like to deactivate the alarm as the fob is too sensitive for my taste and the alarm goes off too often. It is a 17 SR5 premium 4Runner.
Thanks in advance.

The fob is to sensitive? Like the panic button?
Are u talking about the factory “alarm” or a dealer installed alarm.

the factory installed alarm system. When I carry the fob around, I seem to bump it, pinch it, or somehow activate the panic button and it annoys people. I'd like to stop it somehow.

The Owner's Manual (under Customization - Customizable Features) lists the wireless remote control Panic Function as something that can be turned off.

"Programming these preferences requires specialized equipment and may be performed by your Toyota dealer."

Thanks for your replies, I will take them into consideration. I did take the fob apart and put a piece of tape between the panic button and what it activates to see if that might cut down on the spurious honks. So far it helps, it can still be activated by a firm push but it is not so sensitive. Thanks again.
