Alarm sounds of at random times.

I bought my 02 4runner used 3 mos. ago.

PO had apparently installed an aftermarket alarm and DVD Player.

I've had complaints from my neighbors that at random times during the night, the horn sounds off approx 6 times in rapid succession.

The only time I've been able to reproduce it is by pulling on the driver's door handle after the car's been locked, and that doesn't always work.

Unfortunately, the front of my car faces my neighbor's br window when it's parked on the driveway, so they get an earful. My neighbors are really nice people and they haven't even complained to me about it, I heard it indirectly from the neighbor across the street.

Any ideas on how to track down what may be causing the problem?

First thing I'd try is to turn down the sensitivity. Is it parked where cars drive by? There should be a box under the dash that has a small plastic screw for the sensitivity for your shock sensor. If it's just going off at random times without anything driving by or no rain etc I would check all the connections, especially the ground.

This same thing happened to me couple times in the past and one time it was the ground just coming loose and the other time the sensitivity was turned all the way up.
