Alignment and tie rod replacement

Does this look right? They said they couldn't align it because they were so worn out. I went back there and checked it out they look pretty bad but just wondering what everyone else thinks?

Did you look for movement of the rack as you turn the wheel? Did you put the front off the ground and check wheel movement with hands at 3 and 9 o'clock? Neither of these things can be reliably diagnosed by just 'looking'.

Labor for rack bushings, 1 ITRE, and alignment does not look outrageous for here in NJ. Not sure about where you are. Those are NAPA part numbers and NAPA sells the rack bushings for $32.40 and the TRE for $28.35. Not sure if other parts are included, but I doubt it. So parts costs may be double what you could buy them for yourself.

Well, if you do it yourself, I recommend the urethane rack bushing kit from Wheelers (ad on right side of this page). Really improved my steering. I haven't done TRE's yet, but I'm sure there are other options, too, including stock.
