Alignment with 5100s

Finally ripped out my Xreas and did 5100s at 2.5 with my stock coils and 1.5 daystar spacer in the rear. My truck seems to be pulling to the right but overall a night and day difference over leaking Xreas.

I'm looking to replace my xreas as well, used Bilstein 5100s on my XTerra with some OME leaf springs in the rear and the new leaf springs stiffened the ride severely. I really would like a 2" lift since I'm going to invest money in the suspension, but since it's my daily driver I am terrified that it's going to be an uncomfortable ride. How are you finding the ride on the 5100s?

I'm impressed they got you almost 3 deg of caster! I am sitting at a measly 1.6 in my current setup, and that's after two dealer alignments. Looks good!

I am LOVING the ride. I was concerned that the 2.5" setting with my factory springs was going to be too stiff, but it rides very well. All the bumps in the road I was used to bouncing around on I now simply soak up and glide over.

I was surprised they got my caster that high also. They only spent about 25 minutes on the alignment. I'm curious the effects of if they got my camber a little better at the sacrifice of my caster being a little lower.

man, not much wheel gap compared to mines, i have it at .85 and moogs fj springs and the front is high.

How much lift did you get? Did you measure before and after? The factory rake is like a little more than 2 inches. You sure the spring perch is installed the correct way?

i didnt measure, but i can fit my hand in straight, everything is installed correctly, how long does it take to settle down? the only heavy thing i have in front is the group 31 battery.

I forgot to do before measurements but this is where I'm at now center of wheel to fender:

LF 22
RF 22.25
LR 22.75
RR 23

I have discovered that with this alignment I rub on my sway bar and it looks like my tires might be barely kissing my stock UCAs. These are my 265/70R17 that never rubbed before. Can someone explain what part of these alignment settings is causing the new rubbing? I'm already taking it back to the alignment shop in a few days because I have a pull to the right. I'm pretty sure its because my camber is higher on the right side. I'm hoping to get my camber more towards 0.

is it rubbing while driving? or turning?

BBump.. Any alignment gurus who can chime in?

Def not a guru, but that much positive camber may be angling the bottom just enough to cross paths with your sway bar. Unfortunately, as you mentioned, as they correct your camber, your caster will get worse. Probably not enough to rub your mud flaps with that size tire, but might feel a little twitchier.

Not yet. I took it back to the shop who did the alignment and they took another look. They said if they adjusted my camber more towards 0, I would have too much caster and it would pull even more. I'm gonna take her to another shop for a second opinion

Again, I'm not a guru, but I'm pretty certain that it works opposite of that. Fixing your camber will lower your caster. And you really won't be sad with more caster anyway even if what they said was true...It's true that they set left an right differently to accommodate for road crowning etc, but I'm not sure that setting your camber properly has any downside. I have a 3/2 lift with 1.6 deg of caster and everything else to spec.

Sounds like a new shop is a good idea.

My alignment guy was able to get within factory specs. I think you want more caster. Everyone here said a minimum of 3.
