Sorry about the teaser title, I am just very interested in the Gobi....but also very concerned about wind noise. And somewhat less so about gas mileage drop, if any.

You do have to love how the wind noise is utterly silent with the sunroof open with a stock rack.

What's your experience? Please weigh in if you have one, I'm sure I'm not the only Runner owner who has been stalking the forums slobbering on pictures reading everything about the Gobi.

Love it. No wind noise to speak of. With the wind deflector I really like the sunroof open. It obviously pushes the wind up, but the cool thing it does is it pushes a light breeze into the vehicle. I am crazy for my Gobi. This is my second build. On my first one I skimped and frequently purchased the second best in an effort to save a few bucks. This time I haven't and will not regret it. Go Gobi!!!

Worth the money, I complained a little bit about the wind noise at first, and then realize its windier here in Oklahoma then where I was in Washington. On the HWY at 70 there is still virtually no wind noise and with what I have carried on it, it has already paid for itself.

I to was worried about the wind noise issue. I've driven about 140 miles now on the highway with the Stealth on and no wind noise to speak of. My window visors honestly make more noise then the rack. I believe as long as you have the wind deflector correctly contoured to the roof and sealed against it you will not get any wind noise.

I don't have any cargo experience yet but judging by others' experience I won't have any problems with that. I have a ton of pics in my build thread or my other Gobi thread. Let me know if you would like to see other angles of the rack.

I'm lifted about 3" with Icon, 295/65-18's with a stealth rack and I can still fit in my standard house garage.

I love the added functionality as well as look of them, but 1300 is a hard pill for me to swallow for a roof rack.

Those that say there is no wind noise obviously do not have lights mounted up there. I can't drive over 40mph with the sunroof open because the wind noise sounds like a jet airplane. Sunroof popped up is fine- just a bit of noise, but acceptable. Sunroof closed with shade closed- can't hear a thing.

It's still a great rack and I'm glad I have it. Would buy it again!

My Rigid SR 40" light bar doesn't make much noise at all.

It's the wind rushing between the 4 Hellas making all the noise. Lots of turbulence.

I get NO noise from my Gobi. I think it may be a little more quiet now with the sunroof open due to the deflector. I haven't put lights on yet which will most likely increase the noise though. It has only been on my rig for a few days so I haven't gotten to calculate the change in gas milage. I would be interested to see if anyone has had much of a decrease in mpg from their install.

The Gobi is priced a little high but this thing is built like a Tank. All welded areas were done cleanly and perfectly. It is much tougher than I expected, well worth the money in my opinion. If I were to do only one mod the Gobi would be it.

I'm waiting for someone (adio3x) to chime in on separate 6" rigids on noise. We've determined the 40 isn't that loud at all.

Not sure how it would compare on noise to the Hella's but I definitely noticed the noise going up after I had my Rigid's installed.

I have a 16" bar in the middle and two 6" on either side so I am probably getting some of the same turbulence. But as has been stated before I am very happy with it and wouldn't change it . . . well might go with a single light bar but as for the rack I'm very happy.

Four 6" Rigids SR's on my rack and you can definately tell they are there with the sunroof open. With it closed, there is a bit of windnoise, but not excessive.

That being said, I love the rack. If I bought another, I would have Gobi change around the layout of the top and have them make the whole thing flat with no dividing bars and maybe a couple more support bars under the mesh.

Hate to resurrect a thread that hasn't been commented on in 2 1/2 years, but this seems like the best place to start and get some long-term assessments from Gobi Rack owners w/o recreating another Gobi/Baja Rack thread.

Of all the members that have commented on this thread or have owned their Gobi or Baja Racks for several years -- what are your thoughts?

Any leaks, any rust issues, gripes, complaints, things you would change, damage to the vehicle?

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a stealth rack, but wanted to reach out to the forum and get some advice.

I bought the ranger not the stealth but can add some comments. Wind noise at first was very bad with the stock angle on the fairing brackets. I spoke to Paul at Gobi and he told me to bend the brackets to 115 degrees and pull the ends in a bit so it actually has a good curve in the fairing. My fairing is completely snug and tight to the roof line. It helped the noise tremendously. I can't say much for gas mileage as I only have a little over 1000 miles. But early reports say it is hurting it by about 1.5-2 mpg. Have not installed the ladder, still debating. I am really tall so I am thinking of not installing the ladder anytime soon.
