Almost a proud new owner of a Trail Edition

Hey everyone, I'm new to this particular forum, my new 4runner should be delivered to me on Tuesday. I finished all the Car loan stuff today. Anyways its a Classic Silver Trails with KDSS. I didn't opt for the nav. It Just arrived at the dock yesterday Morning. I currently have a 2008 Tacoma 4x4 with a whole bunch of extras. I'm gonna attempt to sell that now.

1 question for now, Will 285/70R17 tires mounted on 17x8 wheels with 4.5" of backspacing fit on the 4Runner with no trimming or rubbing? I doubt they will fit but figured I would ask anyways.

I'm new here too but congrats man. We had to wait on our 4runner to get here too and we are supposed to get it Tuesday also. Wish I could answer your question for you. Ours will be my wife's daily driver so no bigger tires for ours unfortunately!!

I don't think so. No one on the forum has tried the 285s on the stock rims.

4 of us have/had 275s mounted on our 17" x 7.5" stock rims without any rubbing issues. Here are pics of mine running on BFG AT 275s.

1 of us (Chimyz) has the 275s mounted on 17" x 8" w/ 4.5" Backspacing and 0 Offset aftermarket rims and is experiencing rubbing issues. Maybe he can comment on just how much trimming is required.

don't know for sure but believe you'll need a lift to squeeze 285s under there. congrats and good luck!

Congrats on your new Trail Edition!!!Smart move...on the nav.They wouldn't even allow you to order a TE with "no nav" around here in the Gulf States region.

285/70/17 on a 17X8 with 4.5"BS rim will rub on plastic in the front wheel wells and will need a lift and minor trim work.I have 305/65/17's on 17x8's with 4.5bs which are a hair smaller circumference then 285's .I slotted the bottom 2 attach holes in the liner and moved it forward 1/2" and had to trim the the mudflap.

Thought I would finally post some pics of my 4Runner. Just installed the wheel spacers last night, makes the stance look much better. I now have some rubbing up front when turning unfortunately. I'll fix that this weekend.

Im running 285/70/17's on stock wheels, there is a slight rub on the plastic like Harper said.

Wow I just noticed how low the front end is, looks way better after Mikes chop! Leveling kits are a necessity with this truck, I vote for another with bilstein 5100's!
