Alternative to Toyota SAE LF 75W

Any Good alternative to Toyota SAE LF 75W for the Transfer Case that isn't $$$$$. Thought 75W-90 was good for Front/Rear Diff and Transfer Case as well

I used mobile 1 synthetic 75w-90 in diffs and the t-case after seeing a few others on here using it. It does seem to be a debated topic without a conclusive answer or explanation

I bought the 4 x2 packs on amazon, since it was the cheapest and most reasonable at the time. The 12 pack is about as much as 4 x2 packs, but I decided I didn't need 5 extra qts. Anything $10-12/qt seems to be a decent price for gear oil in a reasonable quantity. I also got an off-brand crush washer set that is doing fine.

That’s what I’m planning to use when I do it next week. Hopefully all my drain bolts come off.

No one knows is the answer. General consensus is it probably needs to be changed and there’s not really any reports of harm with any 75w fluids

4th gens call for 75/90 in transfer case & front diff. any brand 75/90 is fine. i use valvoline some use mobil1.

Maybe I've missed it but I haven't seen a thread about Tcase problems at all other than the box on the back that may leak. My guess is 90% of 4Runners on here are running some type of 75W90 synthetic with absolutely no lubrication issues. So take your pick of name brands and don't look back.

For another data point, the 2005 (and I'd assume all 4th gen) manual calls for 75W-90 gear oil in the transfer case. I use the same 75W-90 gear oil in the front differential, transfer case, and rear differential and have had no issues.

I've read elsewhere the same thing--that 75w90 works fine and it is what I am planning when I do my change over the summer.

all 4th gens call for standard 75/90 for the xfer case.

its the 5th gens that use the straight 75w, probably something to do with the advanced features they have like crawl control etc.
