Alternator took a dump. Which way do I go for a new one?

So i found out that my alternator took a dump. Its only putting out 9.2v. Which way should i go for a replacement? Not sure where to go for a new one. AZ has a reman for $198 but i rather not go that route. Not sure how much a new one from Toyota is but a NEW one from AZ is almost $500. Any help would be much appreciated. Does anyone know of a good upgrade that would be around the same price as the new one?

You might want to check into a rebuild kit. I don't know if they are available for Toyota alternators; but I've rebuilt ford and gm ones. Kit comes with diode block and brushes. Pretty easy to do.

Why not check junk yards for a used Toyota alternator. I never had luck with remans or aftermarkets.

Check this thread. The group buy is long since closed but there's plenty of info about the alternator in there. It won't cost much more than a stock one and the thing is bulletproof. Just make sure you get one for the proper year, there's a difference between 4th and 5th gens that won't work (ask me how I know :withstupid
