Altimeter / Inclinometer

Something I have wondered but haven't been able to figure out. Was the Altimeter / Inclinometer part of a package on the 1st Gen 4runner or was it a separate option? Any idea what the option cost?

It only came with the sr5 that had "premium features " such as power doors and windows. Now a days I see them for $100-200

I have a loaded (every option available) SR5 and it did NOT come with an inclinometer so I guess you never know. Must have been one of those options that weren't really part of a package.

I think I got mine for like $117 on eBay.

It isn't the hardest job in the world to install one, just takes time, patience, and the reasoning to not pull on a part of the dash that doesn't easily come off (must find all screws).

After some additional research I found a photo of a 1987 4runner window sticker that has the inclinometer listed under the standard equipment list for a SR5 as "Tilt wheel TLT. & Inclinometer". If anyone has there window sticker or a sales brochure I'd be interested in which models they came with and how much they were if a stand alone option.

Ahhh, I remember when documents were typed on a typewriter. The MPG numbers look like a DOT matrix print.

My 84 does, my 89 doesn't.
Both are SR5s.
When I'm on a bad angle the last thing i'm doing is looking at the inclinometer.

Wish I had one in my 89..... Think they look cool.
Mine is a fully loaded SR5. Has everything else! tilt whee,l cruise control, AC, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, rear defrost, rear heat, etc. even has the sunroof / moon roof with removable cover.

OK. So based on everyone's response, the inclinometer came on some SR5 packages. Does anyone have a non SR5 model than came with the inclinometer? Anyone have a window sticker listing it as an option? I'm sure some Toyota guru has the answer out there?

Have a look on top4runners.com. They have a list of standard/optional/not available for some 84-89 model years. It looks like '87 had it standard for all models except dlx and in '89 it wasn't listed as an option at all for any trim level. Maybe it went away after '87? Mine is a fully loaded '88 SR5 and no factory tilt meter.

Well you read it on the Internet so it must be true.

Thanks Mholme for the link. I'd seen it before and wished they had more info on other 1st Gen runners besides 1987, the only year that mentions the inclinometer.
So I guess that it was not available in the deluxe models. I thought that it was avaiable during all years of the 1st Generation. Any 1989 SR5 guys have one installed from the factory?
:bolt:
