Am I supposed to have a fuel filter bracket?

I had the dealership change the fuel filter a while ago because I couldnt be bothered and I noticed today while replacing the fuel sender that there was no bracket holding the fuel filter, it is just in the line hanging free. I see on a tacoma writeup there is a bracket holding it to the chassis. Did they half ass it and throw away the bracket?

Also they used a napa gold "made in china". Shouldnt it be toyota or denso or something made in japan?

A proper dealership would use a DENSO made in Japan. Yes, there is a bracket. Take your truck back to the same dealership with the receipt and ask to fix it right. They should have receipts/an entry in their data base.

There is a fuel filter bracket. You should be able to see the two holes where it mounts to the body.

A dealership that doesn't use OEM parts? Then what's the point of going to the dealership? That's a first... maybe they ran out and picked one up at the store, hoping you'd never notice!

Good eye. The OEM includes the bracket--aftermarket, including NAPA, generally do not. What did they charge you for the filter and did they show a p/n on the invoice?

Wow. Mega fail. Chew the service manager out hard on this, especially if the invoice lists an oem part having been put in.

Wow, the incompetence and all around scumbag factor in the auto workshop is at an all time high. I apologize to any good tech (there's plenty on here) out there as I say this but you, unfortunately, are far outnumbered by these amateur f#$^kers pulling s^&t like this. Unbelievable!!

The blatantly committed fraud. Take it back and demand the OEM filter.

Oh and thanks to the [MENTION=10169]TheDurk[/MENTION] for that info about the OEM coming with a bracket. Mine is rusting and I wanted to replace it when I did my filter. You're definitely one of the good ones on here.

I did mine at slightly over 80k and, now at 165K, I just bought #2 to install when warm weather arrives, so I had it on the shelf. This is one of the few maintenance items I do OEM on. Definitely a mission-critical part, IMHO.
