Am I the only person here with a 03+ 4Runner limited with NO sunroof?

man, having that sunroof is like bein 1 with Nature, dude. feel the peace, the love, the dream...

Extra thing that will either break, or rattle. My GX had the glass of my moonroof replaced because the weather strip on the glass was coming off, and dealer said they don't have replacement weatherstrips and have to replace the whole window. Luckily it was under warranty, cuz the damn window costed $400 w/o labor yet.

I'm sorry to tell you, but that isn't a LIMITED. Thats an SR5 w\leather seats and a LIMITED emblem. I hope you didn't pay the "LIMITED" price for it....

ALL of the Limited models came with Sunroofs, rear spoilers, color keyed running boards\roof racks, and the dash is a little different. Post your interior shots including the guage cluster. We will be able to tell you quick.

the Limited models for years 2003-2004 had silver roof racks and running boards

in 2005, ALL Limited models came with black running boards and roof racks

the spoiler is NOT standard on the Limiteds, and seems to be a regional thing because I see more Limited models with NO spoiler than with one around here

AND... the sunroof is an option on the Limited models, even the 2007 models, although it's near impossible to find one without it

You're right but I'm not as misinformed as the guy who thinks he bought a LIMITED 4Runner.. My 03 Sport is Silver and therefore the roof rack is color keyed...:biggrin2:

With all due respect, you're the one who is misinformed.

That truck is in fact a Limited. Otherwise some one gone through great lengths to make that SR5 a Limited. SR5 have black mirrors and a chrome grille. Moonroof and spoiler are optional on all trim levels. However, most regions will order their Limited trims with moonroofs and spoilers. The only way without these options is to special order. There are at least two members here who special ordered an '06 without spoilers.

Refer to this posted by toto on another thread. Look for the digit before the R, if it's a '7' it's a Limited.

Specific info for the 2006 4Runner:

Digits 1-2: Manufacturer and Country
JT = Japan Toyota

Digit 3: Vehicle Type
E = Truck

Digit 4-8: Vehicle Description
Digit 4: Z = 2WD, B = 4WD
Digit 5: U = V6 (1GR-FE), T = V8 (2UZ-FE)
Digit 6: 1 = 4Runner
Digit 7: 4 = SR5 or Sport, 7 = Limited
Digit 8: R = 4Runner

Digit 9: Check Digit

Digit 10: Model Year
6 = 2006

Digit 11: Plant
0 = Toyota Motor Japan

Digit 12-17: Serial Number

Don't worry, you have a Limited! I have the same exact year/model as you and our trucks look alike. Sunroofs are not standard, but some regions only order the 4Runner with a sunroof. As for aftermarket, don't even consider it. I wouldn't want somebody cutting into my truck. Do you have 3rd row seats in your 4Runner? That could explain why there is no sunroof.

Well, if it is a LIMITED then I stand corrected and apologize if I offended anyone. However, I'm not sure why anyone would want to "down grade" options such as the spoiler, color keyed roof rack, running boards, and etc. You probably would've got better value for the money with an upgraded SR5. To each their own I guess.. It's still an awesome truck even if it doesn't look like the Typical LIMITED Models.

Most (not all) of the limiteds around here bought on the dealer lots came with spoilers and all of them that I've seen came with sunroofs. Ours didn't have either because it was a custom order. Those are on the options list. There are running boards and the roof rack is black on all 2005s. There are two others 2005 4runners in my wife's side of the family... one is her twin sister's and is gold and was ordered alongside hers and is identical options wise as a limited as well and the other is a 2004 limited that was bought used by her step sister.

I don't know what other ways you can tell that our 4runner is a limited as opposed to a badged SR5 (Something I'd never dream of doing - tacky!) but here's all the pics of it I have from when it was just a couple days old!

Hey I thought I'd add a bit more info I found by looking on Toyota.com though it's for the 2007 models it's probably mostly the same...

Advantages for the limited: (stated as standard when it's optional on the SR5 but standard on the limited, stated as just the feature when it's not available as an option at all on the SR5 and stated as optional when it's an option on the limited and not available on the SR5)

Auto headlamps

18" wheels (though this was not the case for 05 I know)
heated seats
color-keyed various parts instead of chrome (though I wouldn't really care personally)
Standard roof rack
Illuminated running boards (vs not illuminated)
Dual zone auto climate (as opposed to single zone auto)
Standard 6-disc changer
Leather seating, shift nob, and standard leather steering (leather seating not available on V6 SR5 which is what I'm comparing)
Power passenger seat
Standard rear tonneau cover
Standard couble decker
Illuminated gauge needles (lol that's like one of those things that would probably cost them 2 cents to add to the others but they do it to make superficial differences)
Telescoping wheel
Standard cruise and audio controls
Standard illumination on mirrors and sliding function rather than extension
Standard auto dimming rearview
Standard AC outlet
Standard anti-theft alarm

Overall I must say despite you might expect me to be biased toward the limited I don't see a whole ton of truely practical or compelling reasons to get the limited rather than a nicely equipped SR5... most of the differences are superficial. I would like leather though which requires the V8 in the SR5. I also remember I wanted the X-reas suspension just because it sounded cool in theory. I've never driven a non X-reas equipped 4runner though so I don't know if that was really worth it or not.

All in all though I remember extensively side by side comparing the SR5 and limited in pricing and with the options we wanted there wasn't much of a difference at all, especially if you left off the options that flat out weren't available on the SR5.

No, I never said "All Options"... I was referring to only some of the exterior options that quickly identify the Limited model. Yes, I do realize you can get the options I mentioned on an sr5...

I think Limited's as this one are more region specific as I've never seen one like that in my area.

Again, I didn't attend to insult anyone's vehicle...
