Am I turning into a troll????

Moving from somewhere where the sun shines quite frequently to here where the sun shines not so frequently is rough lol. When my dad moved to OH from CA back in the 90's he said he was quite depressed. He was so used to seeing the sun on nearly a daily basis in the Bay Area to once a week maybe even in two weeks here.

Seasonal Depression mate. We all get it. Especially when we've been dealing with snow since November which isn't very Ohio-like.

Sunny days are ahead friend! Just wait till it's 95 and 110% humidity. you'll long for these days, oddly enough.

I like the less serious replies but this is legitimate - Seasonal Affective Disorder is the full name and the cure is sunny Colorado.

In all honesty, I think this being inside so much is putting the hurting on my mental stability. I cannot recall a time in my adult life where I have spent so many long days inside.

I suspect there is some merit to this cabin fever and or seasonal depression. I gotta get out, I gotta see a mountain, or hit a bike trail before I implode. Not to mention I have gained 26lbs despite having reduced my caloric intake due to no activity.

Why ya liken keebler cookies an extra lot lately………….I have gained 26lbs

Reminds me….when I was 22 (which was a VERY long time ago) I worked at a Keebler warehouse during the summer. I’m not exactly sure how much I gained that summer but I do know at the end of it I weighed 65 lbs. more than I currently weigh. I regularly cruised the isles looking for damaged boxes of cookies and if I found one it was open season. It took more than a little while to get it all off.

Stop complaining and get outside ya fat shit!

Dude. Getting outside in the winter is really tough. This winter in the mountains we have had many feet of snow and not the good powder kind. Good snowball kind but that makes it bad to go on a hike in 18" of slush. In addition we had several days of minus zero temps, like a week of -20 to -25! When it warmed up to 0 I was wanting to wash the truck it felt so warm! In addition to that we have had serious cloud cover and rain since October with very few sunny days. Case in point: A few days ago we had sunny skies and 65 degrees in the morning. By dark the temp had dropped to 26 degrees and snow. It's demoralizing. Finally, here is a personal stat:
Last winter from January through March of 2013 I had went on 27 bike rides on trails. That's about one every three days, which is average for me this time of year. Usually it goes to 30 degrees, snows several inches and then gets up in the 50's for a week or two and the cycle repeats.
This year, from January through March 2014 I have went on 3 bike rides, or an average of 1 every 30 days. Yeah, you can see why we have cabin fever back in the east. Even going down to NC to ride has been a wash this year because of the rain and snow down there.

Sounds about right, when I lived in MN my wife found me to be pretty much intolerable to be around in late winter when it was just dreary all the time. After moving to CO it's no longer an issue.

I know a woman who moved to Seattle and was miserable until she went to a tanning place at her docs suggestion which ended her depression. You can buy lamps that provide the same benefit if getting out if weather or other conditions make it difficult.

Of all the things I have seen and been privy to in my life, it is baffling to me the impact climate can have on the human psyche.

It is very sunny and not too cold here today. So i have spent the entire day outside, trimming trees, replacing poles and shoveling gravel. I feel 100x better.

I even got is a very short bike ride today.......to my surprise, my overall outlook on life seems to have improved.

I gotta start getting some seat time in me. A < 3 mile ride had my fat azz winded today. I will push a easy 10 tomorrow if i can map out a good path or trail. Looks like I may need a road bike here.

Good to hear, the human psyche and outside influences can't be ignored for a lot of us. Did you recently move there?

Is positing progressive political commentary that may go against the group-think here, considered trolling?

Isn't everyone entitled to an opinion without having the popularity of said opinion labeled or dismissed as trolling because it doesn't agree with the majority?

That kind of thinking seems to fly in the face of freedom and liberty the conservative majority want to grandstand on, to dismiss and silence opinion bc you don't agree with it.

"Trolling" is extremely subjective.

It's defined in the forum rules.

3. No Trolling or Posts For the Purpose of Instigating Flame Wars
This includes, but is not limited to, posts designed to instigate political and religious flame wars (e.g., starting a poll asking whether or not you think the President is a re****). Trolling includes making deliberate provocative posts with the aim of inciting an angry response or disrupting discussion. Determinations on the issue of whether a post was made for the purpose of trolling or of instigating a flame war shall be in the sole and absolute discretion of the admins / mods.

Why don't you go post about 4runners a little bit?

Because I'm content with the current build status of my 4Runner and answering n00b questions over and over again is less interesting than off-topic these days.

But thanks for the dynamic and helpful response, moderator.

Thanks for the dynamic and helpful conversation you consistently contribute to this forum. :thumb:

You're perfectly entitled to your opinion despite what you may think. The issues are with the way in which you present it and egg people on to the point where you are starting arguments for argument's sake. I'm not going to debate this with you, you've been told by other mods to cool it and I don't need to reiterate that message.

Negative. Fairly simple standard modifications to suspension and so forth that prepped me for an epic CO trip. Didn't think it deserved the bandwidth, although I do miss the build thread sticky in 3rd gen, never knew what happened to it.

Because exercise gets the good stuff - endorphins, dopamine, seratonin, testosterone - flowing. We are built to ambulate, not situate.
