Amayama pros or cons

I primarily use Camelback for all my OEM needs, except ITRs. I think Amayama had them beat by a significant amount, (the better part of $100). The only time I will use a stealership, is if it is some small part that I really need. Otherwise their prices are just crazy town. :der:

Yep, the only time I go local is for bolts, washers, nuts, etc unless I can figure out the size then I go Grade 8 from the hardware store.

Same! I first learned about Amayama because of ITRs! I couldn't believe how much cheaper they were on Amayama for OEM, and I really don't understand how stateside dealerships can mark something up THAT much.

With more expensive parts, I just get a quote from Amayama from their Japan warehouse and from their UAE warehouse and go from there. For OTREs, I found Camelback to be on par after shipping and tax and all of that, so I just went with them instead.

"My momma told me...ya betta shop around"

I need ITRE's so been watching this with interest. I might have to go with Amayama. Is there anything special to do or just order it and wait? Seems like you should have to deal with importing it or something.

I also need OTRE's and LBJ's but Camelback looked reasonable on those items plus the odds and ends that go with them.

I ordered ITRs, OTRs and LBJs from them in the past. It's not the fastest method but saving a few hundred bucks is well worth the wait for me.

So - a quick update on my order.

Ordered my parts on the 7th, and they shipped out from Osaka to Vancouver on the 11th via Japan Post.

Arrived at my door on Monday (15th) here in the Yukon.

All in, I was $217 CAD for parts to do my rear axle seals. From inspection against local dealer parts, these are legit.

Ordered a pair of ITRE's for $156.38, shipping FedEX was $50.

Had to do the deal where someone looks at the order, but they were really quick about it. I submitted the order in the afternoon and they had it pending payment that evening. Marked shipped less than an hour later.

I did have trouble paying. I suggest if you do PayPal go ahead and log in instead of paying through them as a guest, it blocked the transaction on me and I'm going to have to make sure it doesn't process twice. Actually my credit card company called me within minutes to make sure it wasn't fraud. (Overseas transaction red flag I assume...)

Now to see when they get here.
