That picture of that trail is a joke right? Barely flexin' 15 year olds flexin' harder on #instagram look how wide and flat that thing is looks like a freeway compared to the rubicon trail.

I don't know what kind of baby gap trail you take your 85 on, but this is how we 4wheel in my neck of the woods #eldoradocounty #rubicon #trail probably why your truck doesn't have a dent either.

Rubicon Soup Kitchen, we don't drive over some little 3ft rock and call that rock crawling look at the trail your on theres one small rock.

I have had full coverage on all my vehicles. Especially the toyotas. They may be a cheaper rig but they are more likely to get stolen. An insurance company doesn't care about existing body damage. Also, the different in price for me between liability only and full coverage is only about 5 bucks a month so it makes more sense for me to have full coverage.

I agree with some points here but there are other considerations to think about.

From what I understand, insurance companies won't give you full coverage on a vehicle with a salvage title. I think it's legal reasons on the fact that once a vehicle is salvaged an insurance company cannot give full price for the same vehicle twice if it gets totalled again. A vehicle can only be considered a total loss once. So if you buy a 20k FJ that has a salvage title and it gets stolen or wrecked you're SOL.

Another thing to consider is registration. I went through this issues in Colorado with bob's 2nd gen. If the title says "SALVAGE" then Colorado won't touch it. It has to specifically say "REBUILT FROM SALVAGE". In order to do that you have to get a repair order from the shop that made it "road worthy" again and then do another inspection from your local PD to have then stamp off on the vehicle. There was a bunch more that I would have had to do to get bob's 4runner registered that I wasn't able to do which is ultamitely what led me to getting rid of it.

Overall, unless it was a trailer queen and I had no intentions of driving it on the road I will never buy another vehicle with a salvage title. They're much harder to sell, insure and register. They also don't hold their value so unless you get it for cheap then it's not worth the hassle.

Ya, it must be state by state. My 98 was purchased as a "salvage" title. The original owner was an older man who got in to a fender bender. Needed a new front fender, bumper, and headlights. Insurance totaled it (different companies have different amounts) and he didn't want it anymore. It was purchased by a guy who rebuilt it and gave it to his wife as a DD. He restores custom cars for a living, and did a great job on the 4Runner. I purchased from him for a little less than market value.

I had absolutely no problems registering it, and carry full coverage. My agent didn't think twice about full coverage, even recommended it.

It's been my DD for over two years now, and knock on wood, not a single problem. As stated above, just being a salvage doesn't mean it's a bad vehicle...it just means the insurance company saw a way to make some. Ore cash from the insured.

Sounding petty and blatantly talking trash are two different things. Sure, people may sound petty in a disagreement but that is no excuse to start trash talk. Unlimitedfj4 took things here to a whole different level and there was no reason for it.

Agreed with SV. I don't even think anyone else's comments were in the same league as his. He was just bashing other's rigs and even took it to another thread which I had to edit out. Also he was warned by SV and myself to cool it and he chose not to heed that

Well back to the insurance topic. I bought my 92 with a salvage title, and I am able to put full coverage on it. Maybe it varies state to state though.

Most newer vehicles cost so much to fix back to original state, most insurances prefer to just call them TOTALED.

Had a big rig in a minor front damage wreck, hood, radiator, and all the brackets adjacent to them parts, throw a paint job on it, and they wanted to call it totaled, supposedly more than my 20k coverage.

So I have been thinking about buying a new rig to beat on more intensely at the rubicon, I'm wanting to get an older FJ or older tacoma and SAS it. When looking for late 60's early 70's FJ's I found this fully built 2008 FJ the build blew me away,

somebody put a ton of work into this truck the crazy thing is it's a salvage title so technically it's a total loss and not worth anything on paper. But Dana 70 in the rear really this thing could do the rubicon at night in reverse. What are you thoughts I've never even seen a SAS FJ so I was pretty surprised. I kind think this guys is out of his mind asking 20k for a salvage title. But just thought I'd share what do you guys think about the truck. it might be worth 15k in just parts.

Not sure why you'd bash everyone else's wheeling spots over ours? There's awesome wheeling across the country. Fordyce and Moonrocks are crazier than the con too. As long as you're having fun it shouldn't matter where or what you wheel. :shrug:

Have to agree with you, I see lots of Dbag comments that are far more off base than what I have seen here that do not get to join the band. If Dbag comments were grounds for that the 5th gen forums would have sage brush blowing through them. :caked:
