i found this kit browsing on amazon. would be great but says just 01-02, anyone know if the bulbs are the same for the other 3rd gens? really wanting LEDs inside and this would make it super easy.

I switched out all of my interior bulbs (and license plate bulbs) with LED, and can tell you these won't be bright enough. I actually purchased these types first, and had to go brighter in the end.
Here's what I ordered for my 4runner, and some photos to go along with it:
For the two main dome lights (buy two): Light Lamp Panel 48 SMD LED+T10+Dome Bulb+BA9S Adapter | eBay
For the front map lights (buy two): White Car Interior Light Panel 12 LED SMD Dome 12V | eBay
Glove Box (just one): eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices
License Plate (just one set): 2 X T10 10 SMD LED License Plate White Light Bulb Lamp | eBay
I'll upload some pictures of my set up shortly!

^ looks like the license plate kit includes 2 bulbs. Is that correct, so the order quanity would be 1?

Yep! Just made the adjustment to my post.
48 LEDs for the domes seem excessive (and it is), but the outcome is amazing.

I actually just found out recently that there was one in the ashtray (mine was burnt out when I bought it).
From what I remember when pulling it out, it's one of those specialty bulbs. The same that light up the limited Auto Climate display.
I'll look into it though! See if I can pull it out and find what type it is.

got distracted by the girlfriend... sorry.. but yeah you found it eitherway. so this wouldnt be that good? need more light? or is there a kit that will work? or all the numbers for the light to just find them?

I installed most of the bulbs included in that kit, and just wasn't happy with the light output. I find the 48 LED and 12 LED for the dome and map lights to be perfect.
I have some of those bulbs that I didn't use (including 2 LED reverse light bulbs - were dimmer than stock), if you want them, just cover the shipping and I'll send them to you. Have no use for them anymore!
