Wife bought a 2015 Rav 4 Limited AWD 2 weeks ago. This weekend we drove from So Cal to Vegas for the gun show and so wife could see all the Christmas decorations at the Bellagio.

Driving home today on highway 15 a mostly straight road. How hard is it to look in your rear view mirror and see someone using the left side blinker or flashing your lights and move over? I never gave so many drivers the finger as I did on this drive. This road in light traffic is 100 mph for a fair part of the drive. Most trafic flows at 90 plus. We cruised at 105 when we could until we ran into D bags who thought they owned the road.

This is what happens when drivers licenses are given away instead of earned like the Germans. Made me want to have a Ma Duece mounted on her Rav to start picking off these fúcktards :gun5:

Only thing I find more douchey is the person who thinks that those who decide to abide by laws are an inconvenience to their lawbreaking. There's hypocrisy in calling others d bags who "thought they owned the road" (whenever they were just going about their business in a legal manner) when the hypocrite who thinks he owns a greater share of the road believes all should bow down and move out of the way of the vulgarity-laden, flashing lights, entitled d-bag who believes that his manly guns should clear the road. Sounds like a case of Napoleonism.

Get over yourself.

Most States DO have laws stating that people should keep right. The Details vary by State. For instance in my home State, traffic MUST move right to let faster traffic pass, regardless of how fast you are going.

For example say you are cruising along at 110 mph in the left lane. A car comes up behind you going faster. By law you must move to the right.

You're both right and wrong. Yes, the keep right law applies to most interstates and highways, but never does it apply to speeds in excess of the speed limit. However, saying that one law should be followed in benefit of another that is being broken, well, that's just not the way that the law is applied (only exeption that I'm aware of being Virginia). Plain and simple.

You didn't read 02SE's link, did you? You don't know what you're talking about. Since the OP is talking specifically about California, here's a direct link to the "Keep Right" law in California. It explicitly says you have a duty to yield the left lane to fast traffic regardless of the speed limit or the speed of the overtaking traffic. I haven't gone through the rest of those links, feel free to do that yourself. I suspect you'll find that most of those laws dictate a duty to yield the fast lane regardless of speed, a far cry from "never".

And in any case, your accusation of hypocrisy is off the mark. The OP is not taking these left lane campers to task for breaking the law, he doesn't mention the law once. He's taking them to task for being unsafe and discourteous shitheads, which is an entirely different bag of fish. In the US, the custom is to pass on the left, which means that's what people are used to doing (and used to having done to them), which means it's unsafe to pass on the right. It's unexpected, for the passer and the passee and anybody else nearby, and unexpected at 70mph or faster is very very unsafe.

Sounds like you're one of those passive-aggressive douchebags that likes to camp in the left lane and hide behind the speed limit as justification for being an asshat. May I suggest you take your own advice and get the f*ck over yourself, and get out of the fast lane while you're at it? The rest of us have places to be.

Settle yourself down and have a beer, Kevin. You'll avoid an aneurysm.

I certainly never go out of my way to get in other people's way, but if I'm already going 10 over and passing people, you'll rarely get me to go out of my way in order to get out of yours through pathetic intimidation tactics. I'm driving for the safety and convenience of me, my wife, and my kid. Not for anyone else. I would expect nothing less from anybody else on the highway.

If you're already pushing the speed limit but I'm coming up faster than you, I'll wait my opportunity to make the pass. If that means that you never move from the left lane and I have to do it on the rightside, well, I'm already breaking the law by speeding, so I should have no ethical or logical disinclination to making that right-hand pass. I would argue that passing on the right is far less dangerous than driving 105 in a 75mph zone. But hey, there's no evidence to support either claim so we'd be left splitting hairs without any validation of our own opinions on that one.

I can assure you that your destination and time is not of any greater value than mine, or MOST anyone else's on the road for that matter.

Remember peoples, having your driver license is NOT A RIGHT, it's a PRIVILEGE.

What is it about a simple steering wheel that can turn even the nicest of people into a raging *******?

It is interesting...

In Texas, and Oklahoma, when you're in the country on a two lane road with a good sized emergency lane, people who are going slower will move over so you can pass more safely.

This is illegal, the person should pass in the on-coming traffics lane... yet its courteous. Extremely courteous. I love driving in the country. People wave... give you room to pass It's just nice. When I'm in the country and someone needs to pass me, I move over into the emergency strip if I can do so safely.

Yet on the freeway, everyone feels entitled (not excluding myself in anyway) and drives aggressively. For the most part in Texas (not in the major cities) people will move over if you approach them in the fast lane.

But not in Arkansas. Those shit bags will sit in the passing lane for miles doing exactly the speed limit, or 1 mph over the speed limit, passing the trucks doing the speed limit. I do 8-10 over on the freeway typically. Sweet mother of god I've wanted to leave a bag of burning poop on a few select porches in Arkansas. The farther East of Little Rock the worse it gets.

If you want to enforce the speed limit, you should look into becoming a cop. Otherwise, slower traffic keep right.

I completely agree with the OP. It's really aggravating to have someone riding the left lane. I don't care if you're already above the speed limit or not. Move over. VA State Code
wake_rider Notice how it's worded: "Any vehicle proceeding at less than the normal speed of traffic at the time and place and under the conditions existing"

It doesn't say if you're already speeding you don't have to move over.

I stop and write people for this regularly. It's impolite, dangerous, and illegal. I've responded to road rage incidents several times in my career that stemmed from people not moving over and the situation escalating.

Well, you are just wrong.

You get all high and mighty in your reply to the OP about obeying the law, when you apparently don't even know or follow the law yourself..

So you find it more dangerous to have people traveling 10 over in the fast lane than you do having aggressive drivers traveling 30mph over in the fast lane, flashing their lights, tailgating, and believing that their guns should resolve the issue? It seems to me that having an entitled, over-agressive, quick to escalate to violence driver trying to bull people out of their way would be more of a public safety concern, but hey, I'm just a civilian, so what do I know? I was always under the impression that law enforcement officers were there to "serve and protect." It seems more reasonable to me to pull over aggressive drivers who travel near 43% over the posted speed limit than it is to pull those people over who, by going about their business, might impede the out of control hunk of loaded steel blazing a path and putting their bumpers on people's necks. I would consider that far more, "impolite, dangerous, and illegal." :bigok:

Apparently getting violent and road ragey is justified by the lawmen just as long as somebody really pisses you off by not getting out of your way. Those slower moving bastards should be ticketed for being so reasonable.

Just asking for clarity of your statement.

OP never mentioned a speed limit, I know there are parts of this country that don't have posted limits or very high limits. I was under the impression that he was referring to one of those places since I find it hard to believe any law enforcement agency would allow cars to drive in excess of 100 regularly unless it was lawful. Even if that's not the case, the left lane is not for driving, it is for passing. You don't have to worry about their speeding, that's for the police. If you feel that breaking the law and driving in the left lane to prove a point or to piss people off is a good idea, you're no better than they are for overreacting.

Additionally, countries like Germany clearly demonstrate that "high speed" driving (it's relative since high speeds here are 80 and high speeds there are well over 120) can be safe. Especially when people obey the laws, like moving over. So yes, I think that you riding the left lane on purpose is less safe than moving over and letting faster traffic flow. You're forcing faster traffic to pass on the right and that creates several other issues by itself.

I don't disagree with your statement, but you've taken my statement out of context.

By the way, peace officers are not to be the only enforcers of law and, legally speaking, a police officer has no additional powers or rights over that of any citizen; it is only their full-time position to enforce law whereas citizens do not make a living from communal enforcement of law. I have the same rights to make arrests, even give out tickets as do you (even the right to assign seat belt violations by citizens has been upheld by the supreme court).

The greatest difference between citizens and police is an arrest liability. A police officer has the entitlement to a mistake of fact (detaining or ticketing somebody incorrectly), while there is normally more strict guidlines and expectations for a citizen. There can be some legal reprecussion for a citizen who wrongly holds in detention an innocent person.

Now, again, I never go out of my way to get in the way of other people. But, if I'm already scooting along and you happen to ride me hard in order to push me out of your way, I'm certainly not going to make grand efforts to appease your desires. I will continue to go about my business as I see fit. I would expect nothing less from anyone else on the road.

As the OP stated, the rate of traffic was near 90mph, so his driving 105 was NOT the rate of traffic. By impeeding his grossly excessive speed, nobody was impeeding the flow of traffic, just his selfish, dangerous, and entitled desires.

Our roads are not designed similar to the Autobahn, nor are our laws or citizens accustomed to such speeds. As such, grossly exceeding the speedlimit and driving aggressively is far more of a detriment and imposition to public safety.

Again, you're hearing me out of context. I am not stating that I purposely ride in the left lane to slow people down, nor am I in a rush to move out of the way by either speeding up or moving over for people who feel the need to be over-aggressive.

Guess you were one of the "drivers" who got the finger.

Rule book says mover over when faster drivers are behind you and you are holding up traffic ace.

In your mind you have 6 plus cars behind you are holding up and your holier than thou attitude is that is okay?

Unbelievable .

Rule book also says that driving 43% greater than the speed limit, tailgating, and aggressive driving are also violations. Just for clarification, oh logical one, which rules do and do not apply to you? Your story doesn't align. You said traffic was at or near 90, yet you're doing 105. That's not holding up traffic, just you.

Go watch your UFC drink some Monster Energy and get back to me. By the way, watch Idiocracy. It could be enlightening. Probably not, but possibly.

I just hope that the vehicle had at at least "S" or "T" speed rated tires?!

And that the tire pressure was adjusted correctly for driving at a higher speed?!
