Amount I got for my totalled 4runner

Sorry this is my 3rd post today no dumb questiom here just interesting info.

I just totalled my 03 Sr5 4runner. Here are some more details.
42,000 miles
V8- Leather- 6 disc changer.
That is pretty much all it had on it besides all the regular stuff.

So here is the interesting part- I walked away with a Check for 25,440.

Give me yours thoughts.

Yea, it is a lot. My parents bought it for me last year for my 18th B day and they got it used and it had alot on there then. The guy they bought it from had a long trip to work everyday.

Man, I'm jealous of you young bucks getting these free 4Runners. I had to get mine the old fashioned way and earn it...

That's not a bad amount from an insurance company. But, the real question is: how much did you owe on it? Depending on how you financed, you may end up being lucky just to break even.

Insurance is there to indemnify you, not there for you to make a profit. If you are profiting from it, then that's a big no no.

It was totally payed for in one chunk, no financing.

It was 2wd.

Question about the Leather, here in NY the SR5 all come through with cloth, Leather can be added as aftermarket, I know in certain regions they put Leather in SR5 & Sports, what Im trying to say is the Leather Port Installed or Aftermarket, if it's aftermarket then it should not reflect the price of the 4Runner, like Rims if you put them on a 4Runner and they get damaged or stolen the customer deals with it, Insurance does not compensate you.

Imports really retain their value, even with the high mileage, so how did you total it.

Leather should be port installed. Insurance compensates you the amount when the policy was made. He totalled it when he fell asleep at the wheel and rolled it a couple times.

like I said I don't understand the reason, excuse for falling asleep behind the wheel of a moving vehicle, I know my limitations especially when it comes to driving and I think falling asleep behind the wheel is just as bad, your excuse for saying west texas is boring only makes me think you will fall asleep again

can I ask what lead up to you falling asleep, I take it you totalled the 4Runner and damaged/hurt nothing else but what lead up to it, up for 3 days and decided to drive a 100 miles:arrow:

I was joking about the West Texas thing.

I dont appercitate the judgement that I stayed up for 3 days and then just decided to drive. Normal life is what lead up to the accident. I had had plenty of sleep.

Wow, $25,440 for an 2wd SR5 with all them miles. That's really awesome man! Glad to hear you are ok too. I've never actually fallen asleep at the wheel but I have had to pull over for fear that I would. That's a scary feeling .
