Amp advice for JL audio speakers

Hi .....
I was able to get a great deal on some JL 6x9 speakers (C2 3way). I currently have some Boston 6x9 in the front doors and Boston 3.5 in the dash..

I am going to swap out the door speakers, but I have a feeling I am going to need an amp to push these speakers - the magnets on these speakers are much larger compared to the Bostons....

If these do fit (I am concerned with the depth), I will swap out the rear speakers and need an amp...

So, is there a specific Amp that i should buy or someone could recommend? I will be keeping the stock HU...

How-a-bout JL Audio amps?? I use them for my subs w/stock head unit. They're clean, not too expensive, and are available in an assortment of configurations, e.g., mono-block(single amp), 2 way, four way...etc.

That's what I was thinking as well... I was looking at the JL XD400/4. I was told by Crutchfield that I would not need to amp the 3.5 in Bostons in the dash, so I believe I could drive the JLs in front door and add some JLs to the liftgate. I have no room for a sub.

You won't have to amp it unless you want to. The XD amp is nice but the HD amps are sweet. Look at a four channel or five if you want to add the sub.

The "HD 600/4" might be an amp worth looking into for your application. It's 150W per channel, so you'd have "left to right" separation, as well as "front to rear" fade capability.

The amp also has High/Low voltage inputs, so you can feed it using low level line (RCA) outputs, from the head unit, or high level (speaker) outputs to drive the amp.

I think Crutchfield is totally wrong. If you are changing speakers and considering amping, why wouldn't you amp the dash and door separately? At least you will have some tuning ability such as gain for balancing levels and high pass/low pass filtering. The biggest issue to me with swapping speakers is that the stock system is tuned for the cheap speakers they provide. First thing that will change is the balance between the dash and door and that changes the entire sound spectrum.

I could get you an arc mini 125.2 for $165 plus shipping from an authorized dealer. You could run four sets at two ohms for a total of 75 watts per set.

Good call. Stick with JL.

I run the XD700/5 amp. Great small footprint and pretty good powering C5 Tweets in dash, C3 Mids in doors, C2's rear doors, and the 12W6v3 sub. Just upgraded to that sub and need some more power there but other than that great amp for the money!

Thanks CO..... what size speaker did you put in the rear door - 6.5 or 5 in? Also, did you change out the liftgate speakers? People have stated that this is a waste of $ and just change out the rear doors...

Good question... boy, I don't recall! When I had those put in a year ago I was more concerned with the fronts and sub I guess!

No. No change to the lift gate speakers. Not worth it unless you do a lot of tailgating I think.

My jl amps I used is HD 600/4 to power the front door speaker and rear door. The XD400/4 powers my rear hatch speakers and my 8" sub. I have a dedicated switch to turn off the front and rear door speakers off and just power my rear hatch and 8" sub for camping. I also have jl 12 W7 powered by a 1000/1 but soon to be replaced with the 1200/1. I also dynamatted everything. Heres some pictures

Did you use the KRX2s for the front doors? Did you have any issues with mounting depth? I also want to get the Focals but not sure if they will fit the factory space/depth. Do you know what the max mounting depth is for the front and rear doors since you took them apart?
