install completed (almost)
The tool compartment was not a good fit with my amp (soundstream picasso 5 channel). I suppose i could have gotten it in there but just decided it wasnt worth the hassle. I ended up mounting it on the backseat, and i am just going to make an amp cover to protect any sharp edges of the amp from contacting my aerobed. I dont think it is going to end up being that big of an issue when camping.
Now to the details.
I installed a soundstream picasso system all the way round.

I was a bit worried at first that the sub channel would not drive my sub as well as i wanted. I do not want my truck to rattle down the road, but do want tight clean bass. I can tell you that this amp is more than enough to drive my sub at 4 ohms.
The picasso components are just amazing. My buddy has a focal setup and another with the JL components and i have to say that for what i ended up paying they are gonna kill themselves when they hear how good my system sounds. The music plays just sooo well and the full range is recreated flawlessly. I highly recomend these speakers. I did have to make new speaker mounts all the way around, i just wanted the install to be clean and didnt want to pop out speaker paper and mount in a gasket, risking sound degradation. A shop made these out of MDF and painted them black for me
Now to the bad.
The factory deck just stinks when going to a setup like this. To get the most out of this system you really need to go with an aftermarket HU. To get the most you need a non-fading preout of at least 4volts. I plan on solving this with the new Kenwood nav that is coming out in spring. However, the system still sounds wonderful.

Oh and yes, the factory speaker are really that bad, if not worse than i expected. The magnet is literally the size of 3 nickels stacked, and the speaker weigh about as much as 3 nickels.
