An Ode to the PO

(Feel free to add you own ventilation to the previous owner of your T4r or GX).

Dear whomever owned my truck before me. You suck and you should have to walk everywhere in life. You obviously owned a dog because there is dog hair everywhere and you are a huge slob. But don't worry, I spent two weeks cleaning your mess. And don't worry about all of the deferred maintenance you didn't do on this truck. I, unlike you, care about what my vehicle looks like and that it runs well and lasts a long time. So she will get new brakes, fluids, and yes, I will drill and tap those broken skid plate bolts you left me.

So here's to you, the unaware a-hole who just drive it until it stops and wonders why....

Blah blah blah. When are forums going to realize that the general population of vehicle owners don't give a damn about their vehicles other than getting in them and turning the key and driving.

You bought it, so it's pretty much on you. You did look it over right?

Looks like we found the PO! :lmao:

I bought a Jeep like that - minus the dog hair. But then, I knew it was rough when I got it. Still found stuff that I wasn't expecting that was badly neglected though.

I did buy it and got a good price too. and CarMax was amazing about fixing a lost of stuff on it. I was just floored by how many parts and pieces were missing (that CarMax replaced).

The post was made for fun mostly, and a place for people to vent about their own POs.

Actually I should be grateful it wasn't taken care of. How boring would it be to buy something that didn't need any wrench time. :/

Dear PO (Toyota), thank you for selling my vehicle to me brand new without ever driving it. I am happy that all damage on the vehicle will be inflicted by me :biggrin1:

An argument could be made that you are the moron that bought it...? :fish2:

I am guilty of being one of those PO. haven't cleaned the inside since day 1. why should I since the dealer will charge me for the interior clean either way when I trade it in.

now I don't leave garbage, empty bottles, fast food bag/containers, or odds and ends laying around inside either.

currently the on stuff I have inside :

snatch rope, hitch shackle (for the rope), snow brush/scraper.

summer I keep a bag of toilet paper (for fishing of course) when out in the middle of nowhere.

I suspect the previous owner of my rig was some yuppie (Ardmore, PA and my rig stickered for $43K) who didn't give a crap about it. When I got the service history, there was a huge 20-30k mile service gap. In the beginning it was taken to the Toyota dealer, then back at around 70K (around the mileage I purchased it) it was dumped at Toyota.

I purchased it b/c it was on sale for a good price and I was given more than I expected on my trade-in-pile-of-garbage-Jeep. Anyway, I should've of given it a thorough "look around". When I took it home, I found a napa oil filter (not that there is anything wrong with that, but I question where it was taken for service as Toyota CLEARLY didn't perform it before selling it to me) and the oil was dark and liquidy. I was too angry to take it back, so I did everything myself. I also noticed a diagnostic sheet that in hind sight was a compression test sheet. All cylinders were the same and that it passed. So, were my Head Gaskets replaced???? I don't know as the official Toyota service history doesn't mention it. 4Runners were going for $25-27K at the time, it was on sale for $20K. Hmmmmm. Whatever, it was this or a stupid Highlander (1st gen)/RAV4 which my wife was begging me to get. 50K miles later, I do not regret my purchase, but I do doubt the business practices at #Conicelli Toyota.

Previous owner? Didn't care.
Conicelli Toyota? Neither did they apparently.
Me? Love it and plan to keep it until it explodes.

CookieRoe I know lots of dealerships order parts from Napa and other parts stores when they perform service on customer's vehicles so it could've been serviced by Toyota using a Napa filter or it could not of, no one would really know but the dealer.

Edit: I need to not read and eat at the same time I thought you wrote that it was serviced by Toyota

This says it all right here. I could go on for days....

Eh, I got mine from Carmax, but I also know the quality of cars that go through there. We sold my ex's PT cruiser there after Chrysler couldn't figure out what was wrong with the transmission (wouldn't downshift into 1st gear all the time), and it was never disclosed that there was a transmission issue. I was so happy to get rid of that car, I hated it, and I feel sorry for whoever bought it.

Carmax replaced my actuator for no cost and no increase in price before even letting me buy it, so that was 2k off the top they lost anyhow. It wouldn't go into 4lo and the center diff wouldn't lock, now it works flawlessly. Of course after I bought it, and the interior dressing started to fade, I noticed some blemishes inside and out. Whatever, I bought it to wheel it, not baby it.

I could too. the Fayetteville branch did a shittacular job cleaning it and yes CarMax would not address the dum dum issue, which turned about to broken skid plate bolts.

BUT, like I have said before I was floored at how much CarMax did. they replaced everypart that I pointed out that was missing, replaced the calipers, battery, hood struts, and by the grace of God almighty the secondary air injection pump went out on day 25 of my 30 day. they fixed it good as new. even installed my new iridium plugs for me.

well like I said before, its no fun if it ain't broke. and the whole forum member living their vehicle is no joke. Last thing I would want right now is a brand new rig with nothing to do to it, oh and a $600-700 a month payment. Yikes.

You'd think that, wouldn't you? Source: guy whose truck got hit in a parking lot 2 weeks after purchase, with no note left.

Once again, I could go on for days but I enjoy getting a paycheck.

I will say at times the work I do is nothing short of a miracle. Some people absolutely destroy cars, all in less than 50-60k miles!

I will say that a talented car detailer does exactly as you say, "Nothing short of miracles" to some of these cars. And yes people are pigs, and I will admit, I am one of them. I have to shovel out my car every Saturday bc Mon-Fri I live in the thing.

I think I need a trash compactor.
