Hello Folks, I need to probe your minds about this, and see if someone has encountered this before.

on my 97 Runner , I have no turn signals. The head lights and hi/lo on the column switch work fine. When I turn on the signals, I get nothing, no clicks, no flicker, nothing. Right or left.

Now, having checked electrical gremlins in my old dodge, I went about it the same way:
1 Checked the Turn Signal fuse (ten amp) and it is NOT burned out.

2. Checked my hazards. there was a single, very quick flicker of light on the signal indicators on the dash, then nothing. Turn off on and off and still nothing.

Changed the flasher relay. Tried again, nothing at all. So....wondering. Think its the stalk? the whole turn signal switch?

any suggestions will be helpful and appreciated. The threads I did find seemed to not touch on both turn and hazard flasher failure.

if neither the stalk nor the hazard button work i wouldn't think it would be the stalk. have you checked that all of the other non-related fuses / relays are totally inserted / working? try disconnecting the positive terminal for a few minutes and reconnecting and see if you get any difference

Check the turn signal flasher behind the fuse block at driver left knee. The hazard and turn signal are controlled by the same flasher relay.

Edit: reread OP didn't see mention of changing flasher first read. Follow TheDurks advice it's good always is.

Stalk cannot stop Hazards from working. Separate fuses so need to check BOTH.

Hazard Switch CAN stop Turns from working. So hazard switch, flasher, or connections.

Start at flasher relay. See if you get power at green-red as you engage Hazard and Turn in turn. Both good mean bad flasher, unless blue-red is getting 12V+ blinking. In that case, hazard switch again. Both bad also means bad hazard switch or connections.

See '97 wire diagram below. Other years may have different colors.

Update though. SO, I pulled every fuse and checked each one. I found a 10amp fuse that had popped, and replaced it with another 10. Bang, turn signals worked. Because I didnt have any extras, I pulled that 10a, put it back in the block where it went and got new fuses from the parts store. Installed a new ten, pushed the hazards to check those, blew the fuse. Replaced the fuse with a 15a, blew that fuse. Turned the Hazards off. turnsignals wont blink is hazard button is pushed. Plugged in another 10a, turn signals work if HAZ lights are not on, but only click like normal on the right side. Left side, the lights blink about once every five clicks of the flasher relay. I turned on the key, which showed the ABS, ECT and Door ajar emblem, and they to were flickering in time with the flasher fuse, but only when turning left. On the left side, only the tail was blinking. The front turn signal though, the wire to the socket felt very hot. SO, I have parked it with the battery disconnected. Wiring is not my wheelhouse, so I will just end up taking it to my mechanic. Unless of course, someone has come across this problem.

knowing me, its probably the simplest of ground wires or something. the day before this started, I went and did some light wheeling with friends. and I mean it was a rocky ugly road that was about 5mph to go on and a big but shallow puddle at the end, which I didnt hit more than twice because I was shooting all the vids. I know its a simple thing...Still though, guys, I appreciate your help

when this happened to me, it was right after my clock repair and i did not fully seat one of the connectors back there... maybe thats worth a look.

Have you pulled the turn signal bulbs and looked at them and the sockets for water and corrosion?

Good idea. Sounds like we have a connection fail on left side somewhere. I can't diagnose from here. I'd have to get up close and personal with a meter.
