Android Apps for the Car

Picked up a Nexus 7 that I am planning to use as a car based tablet. Looking for help apps to load up on it. So far I have the Co-Pilot offline GPS app with the US maps loaded. Plan to install Torque once my bluetooth OBD arrives.

Plan to load up with MP3's to stream to my Kenwood. Maybe put some movies on it for the little one.

Any other apps that you guys use, recommend? Trip planners? Mileage trackers?

for car maintenance, mileage I use "a-car"

for stats I use "torque"

for dash cam software i used "autoguard" but i moved to a self contained unit now but looking to upgrade to the updated version "marcus-3"

for music streaming i use "rocket player" and "entune"

for accidents, "state farm" pocket agent but then again i have state farm

"google earth" for those odd lookups

looking to replace the 5" gamin with a 7" and move the 5" to the warden's tacoma

How do you like the Nexus 7? I have been looking to get one for a while now. Just ordered a BT OBD adapter.

Also, let me know how you mount, I'm looking to do something similar as well

I need to look into getting one of these.

ive had one for a few months, I love it.
so far tho, I mostly only use it for games lol.

ive got a couple gps apps on there tho. seems to work good. I don't have a car mount for it, but I should get one. right now I just leave it plugged in, and in the center console. I use the AC plug, and charge cable, works good.

I JUST bought one to use mainly with my OBD. Going to rig something up to mount it this weekend but not sure what yet. It'll either go horizontally with the bottom edge in the clock area and sticking above the dash or it'll go right in front of the shifter (Also horizontally). In either case I'm likely going to craft the holder myself and use Velcro to hold it for easy removal.

On the dash is way more visible, but also... more visible from outside the car :(

I'll have a post with pics in my build thread when done.

A couple more fun apps are the Orux offline maps. Even if you have entune nav, these maps have better offroad trails. Better yet, you can plan a trail trip using google earth at home, export as a kmz, then load onto the tablet and use the KMZ on Orux!

Another app (if you have teathering or lte) is Waze.

And there is a nice inclinometer you can get too called "Inclinometer" strangely enough :D I only have the free one atm but it works great.

I'm also using Torque atm...

Hi,

I'm using these:

GasBuddy
Screen2Auto
PocketCast

Any apps you can recommend for driving in a car with kids? I mean something for entertainment: quizzes, games, etc?
