Android OBD2 Scanner

I just wanted to share a little nugget with you guys. If you have an Android phone and don't want to pay $150 for an OBD2 Scanner, there's a $5 android app called Torque that will sync with a $30 ELM Bluetooth OBD2 dongle to give you real-time sensor info, code reading/clearing, data logging, and troubleshooting info on your phone. I just ordered the bluetooth dongle, so I'll let you guys know how it works for me and maybe get some screenshots.

I have a droid 2, for which there is a nice car dock that mounts to the windshield. This way, I can see real-time MPG data, coolant temp, a/f ratio, and air temp/flow. I'm pretty excited to see the difference in air flow, intake pressure, and intake temperature w/ deck plate and ISR mods compared with stock.

Ok, I have the Samsung Captivate and it blows away any Iphone but the Iphone 4, and sorry, but Blackberry got left in the dust years ago...

but anyways... not to start a phone argument here. I will be looking forward to seeing some screen shots etc of how this works!

it's the free android market download on a computer install on your phone and run it, it's a mirror image of the droid market but everything free there are lots of good car apps out there for the droid os, all power to open source!

also don't pass it around to much as i get sad when the server crashes

Yeah my Blackberry is pretty annoying and the app selection is awful. Nothing is as bad as a phone with AT&T though, at least in northern NJ.

No it does not. It just reads sensor outputs and engine codes from the ECU. My bluetooth adapter should be arriving w/i the next few days, and I'll post some screen shots of the app interface. If it doesn't work, I'll feel like a douche.
