Hello all,
I am new to this forum and also a new owner of a 3rd gen 4runner.
I am in market for some new parts but don't know where to start, My runner is totally stock. I ran out to ST, Mary's glacier few weeks ago and tested my trucks limits. It felt like I really didn't need to add anything but I have been bitten by the off-road bug and cant stop searching for sliders roof racks and armor. l
Welcome!
I'm just a month or so in front of you so not the best to chime in. That said here's my opinion ;D
Read the "buyers guide":

Then consider baselining the T4R before you do any mods. Perhaps you have done this but if not I strongly suggest this first. By baseline I mean replace all the consumables especially the timing belt if unsure of the miles on it.
Replace ALL fluids and belts, spark plugs, PCV etc....
Clean MAF and throttle body like shiny good.
Lube the driveshaft
OEM generally recommended...
You may want to consider addressing the transmission issue with the "pink milk shake" that occurs because the ATF gets contaminated with the coolant due to a faulty radiator. Mine radiator was ok but I replaced anyway.
I pretty much just finished doing this to my 2000 Limited. Took most of my spare time last month and probably ~$500 although this includes a new radiator, B&M transmission cooler, Airraid intake...and all of the above. Bottom line is I am now quite familiar with the externals of the T4R and am sure I have addressed the basics.
Next for me is steering and suspension, not due to current issues but just to make new.
My T4R is MUCH better than when I bought it and it was cool then!
Good luck and the forum search is your friend. Use it before you make any mods or spend any money. The guys here have been at this for a while and have great advice!

OH yea the best MOD I did was the K&N filter BUT it popped a check engine light that took me weeks to track down (it was the MAF that did not respond to 1st cleaning!) This was only thing that made my T4R jump
