Annoying squeak/squeal when cold

I removed the alt/fan belt and the noise stopped (And my fan was freewheeling even when hot) so I figured hey, it's probably the fan clutch. Replaced the clutch and the noise is still there. At this point I'm thinking maybe water pump?

The timing belt was supposedly replaced about 10k ago, but nothing was said of the water pump, so who knows. I eventually move the camera away from the fan and you can hear that the squeal is accompanied by a scraping noise of some sort. I'm leaning toward water pump, but would love to hear your thoughts.

If it were the water pump, then the sound would have stayed after taking the fan and belts off. I have a similar sound when my engine is cold and I think it is the idler pulley that tensions the A/C. If they overtightened or undertightened that pulley while doing the timing belt, then that could be causing noises.
 
Is the water pump not driven by one of the drive belts? I just assumed that the fan was connected to the water pump shaft like on some of my other trucks.

I know it's not the idler pulley for the AC because A) I've already replaced that and B) The sound was still there even with the AC belt off. I first took power steering belt off and the sound was still there. Then took off AC belt and the sound was still there. Then alt belt and the sound was gone. It doesn't sound like it's coming from the alternator to me (stethoscope confirmed) so that's what's leading me to believe it's something connected to the fan. On my other trucks, the fan connects directly to the water pump shaft, and since I've already replaced the fan clutch, that's what led me to thinking it might be the water pump, especially given the slight scraping noise that's accompanying the squeak.
 
Since the Alt belt is super cheap, I would first replace that and see if the noise goes away. It may just be the belt.

If not, then its probably is the WP.
 
If it does it when its cold and you can rev it to get rid of the sound its most likely a bad or cheap belt. Get quality belts, OEM, Bando, Gates, ect...
 
Damn. So it could be coincidence that it stopped with all of the drive belts off, or it could be that it isn't the water pump at all. Can I run it with the timing cover off safely? Then I could get my stethoscope on everything and hopefully pinpoint the location.

It does it most of the time when cold, but not at idle. It usually starts WHEN I rev it up. It has new (10k miles) gates belts on it already and it really sounds like a scraping / chirping noise and less of a squeal the more I listen to it.
 
Chances are if it doesn't make the noise when the belts are removed then it has something to do with the belts or what the belts drive.
 
If you think it is a belt making the noise, try holding a LAVA bar (soap) on the inside of the belts and see if the noise changes or disappears. Not a permanent fix, but helps diagnose.
 
Where you ever able to get this issue resolved? I've got somewhat of a similar issue. When I start mine up, I get about 10 seconds of squeaking, then it goes away. Recently, I discovered that when I put my foot on the breaks when in gear, it squeaked again.
