Annoying whistle noise at highway speeds

Anyone else have this issue and resolve it?

Last weekend I did my first road trip in my TR4. PA to VA. I noticed an annoying whistle sound at 65+. I shrugged it off as coming from the window seal or something.

By chance i figured out it how to control the whistle. Turns out with the AC blasting on recirc mode on it would whistle noticeably. With it off it would barely make a noise.

The obvious answer is: If it bothers you leave the recirc mode off.

Im just curious if anyone else has had this issue and if you figured out how to make it stop.

My 2006 T4R Sport emanates a similar noise at 60-70 mph. I've taped over most of the seams and joints on the front of the car and have not been able to solve it. I've also moved the roof rack crossbars to different positions without any change. The whistle noise I've got varies with both speed and level of wind present outside and is still there whether the sunroof is open or closed. Very annoying.

Check your cabin filter- maybe it's clogged up. The access panel is in the glove box. - or even just remove it and try the a/c on high/recirc and see if that's it.

Replacing the cabin filter is on my list of things to do. I will report back with results.

I had a wind noise like this several years ago. I put a little layer of black silicon on the gaps in the windsheild seal and the rubber strips on the roof between the windsheild and the front roof rack mount. Problem solved.

Mine does the same @ 55-65mph. Can hear it when at a constant speed, but it will temporarily go away when I either press on the accelerator or let off. The sound will return when I get back to a constant speed within that range.

My 2002 4Runner (I know, different generation) does a similar thing!

I know it's not the sunroof, I know it's not the air recirculation or where the air flows like to your feet or to your head (tried changing all those options, sound still was there).

I'll try sealing some gaps on the outside like someone suggested... super annoying noise.
