Another 4HI problem thread...

Hey everyone, I know this has been beat to death time and time again but my symptoms seem different than others. I'll preface this with yes, I know how to engage 4hi/4lo correctly, already went through the dreaded actuator replacement, front diff and transfer case fluids changed recently.

Issues started after the truck came down hard off a jack. Both rear tires off the ground and the front driver tire was also off the ground. Jack fell to the side and everything came down hard. Had to get an alignment after that little F up.

  • Will engage 4hi in neutral & park
  • Won't engage 4hi while moving forward at any speed
  • Will usually engage 4hi in reverse (~70% of the time)
  • CDL works fine once in 4hi or 4lo, quick engagement

When attempting to engage 4hi while driving forward, it almost feels like the passenger side axle engages, but the driver side isn't. While the 4wd and center diff lights flash the truck pulls from one side to the other under light acceleration. Under heavy acceleration it torque steers to the right pretty hard.

Anyone have any experience with these kind of symptoms, or have any idea where to start? Thanks!

There is an Automatic Differential Disconnect in the front, so it sounds like maybe that's not working properly. I think it's possible to take it apart and at least look at it, but I don't know if there's anything you can do to fix it.
