Man I'm feeling a little better about the cops in my area knowing that they actually were trying to help. I think it's because thats the most action they get. Being in a mountain community, there really isnt that much going on.

Sorry to hear about this. It sucks & I hope I'm never a victim of this. No one should have to go through this.
These crimes are very difficult for police to investigate. Unless there is a witness there is little hope in catching them or recovering the stolen items. Sometimes they're stolen for personal use but often are sold off. It's also difficult to identify stolen items or prove who owns them.
Almost all electronic items have serial numbers. I urge EVERYONE here to record the model #s & serial #s of EVERYTHING you own that has them. Occationally the serial #s are listed on documentation (receipts or owners manuals) but usually not. Although it is rare for items to be located, having the serial # can prove it is YOURS or that it was STOLEN. Sometimes a thief is caught and is found with merchandise presumed to be stolen but it is difficult to prove that without a confession or proof of ownership. How many "Pioneer AVIS D2"s or "Garmin 255W"s are out there? If it's found, how do you prove it's yours without the serial #? Police could find and confiscate a garage full of suspected stolen goods, but how do they identify the owners?
Doing this won't prevent a theft or the horrible feeling associated with it but MIGHT allow you get get your stuff back & help prosecute the scumbag piece a sheeit that stole it!

Cargo covers will deter some since most thieves want to see in before they determine if a break in is worth the time (which is a big factor when stealing)when a thief can see what he definetly can steal in the car next to it. I always use mine. Keeping things hidden is a no brainer.
Also those huge ALPINE stickers assist thieves too and I see those ona lot of SUVs around here.

LLumar makes an automotive security film, I am planning on getting this installed soon, I will make sure to post some pictures. Hopefully it doesn't get tested, but if it does I will make sure to post about it.
Bummer to hear about the break in, look on the bright side, now you gan get bigger/better subs

I'm pretty sure there wasn't any tint on that window, if there was there would have been big, stuck together chunks. Looks exactly like Toyota security glass to me...

What shit heads! I'm sorry, man. That's a big bummer. I was at dinner with my friends last night, and a whole ROW of cars were broken into. This, what I would imagine to be, clever criminal, shot in the locks on 4 or 5 cars including my friends. (Jacked insurance papers, etc).
My friend is selling some Type R's if you're interested? He'll give you 110 for one, maybe less if he's sympathetic - although, I'm sure you have that window to tend to

:iagree: with jharris. I don't use the cover unless absolutely necessary and there is something that needs to be concealed. Otherwise, I'm risking a broken window when there's nothing of valve underneath.
Though I agree Ron that using the cover will stop a smash and grab.
