What wire was broken and where?
Didn't take a pic, but if you follow the wires that come out of the transfer case actuator plug, they meet up with the two sensor wires and form a bunch that goes towards the front of the car. Where the actuator plug wires join the sensor wires, I had one that was on the outside of the group that seemed to have been ripped by something. I repaired it and now my 4wd seems to be working fine. I left the multimode switch unplugged - after looking at the way our transfer cases work I decided to not use that anymore...

Why? Multi-mode is great for 'mixed' conditions - snow/ice conditions with some clear pavement, etc.

I don't like the design of the multimode system much, and it seems like it tends to break when other people use it. The way that the actuator actually engages in multimode also is kinda strange. I think I'm just going to leave it unplugged and deal with it. Makes driving on those mixed conditions a little more interesting anyway.
