Another actuator thread

My 2018 TRD Pro’s driver’s side door does not always unlock when I use the FOB. Sometimes it does work fine, though. When it fails to unlock I can always (so far anyway) unlock it by locking all the doors and then hitting unlock again but unlock will not work no matter how many times I try unless I lock first.

Is this a failure mode for the actuator?

I'm going to move this to the 5th Gen section since your problem may be generation specific.

That is essentially how mine started. It would either not lock or not unlock unless I hit one then the other. Then it got to where it would take several attempts (which is wrecking your other actuators, by the way) then finally it quit altogether. I purchased the actuators and then, like an idiot, waited almost a year to replace the bad one. It took me all of 30 minutes to replace and everything went back to working perfectly again...sort of. I, like many people, forgot to re-attach the arm that connects to the exterior latch of the door so that latch wouldn't work and I couldn't enter from the drivers door. It took another 10 or 15 minutes to tear the door card back off, re-attach the rod, and put everything back together. Some of the most worthwhile 45 minutes I've ever spent working on a car!
