Another AT Fluid Question

What is the best automatic transmission fluid to use? I have a 99 Highlander and will do a drain and fill for the transmission fluid this weekend. Should I stick with Dexron III or can I use VI. If I do choose to use VI (which is partly synthetic) will there be any issues since I would be mixing it with the Dexron III thats already in there??... :ranger:

Best brand experience welcome...Castrol? Mobil1, etc..

Thanks in advance

As far as mixing, I don't think there is a problem. I use Vavoline Dex III in my 99 and so it shifts smoothly without no problems.

Thanks all for the quick replies. I guess I'll stick with DEX III instead of mixing in some DEX VI. No problem with consistency :juggle:

Amsoil here also. I know people say they can feel a difference with different fluids 'n such, but I honestly can't. I just like the peace of mind that the fluid lubricates my parts better and hopefully lasts longer.

I used Valvoline Max Life after draining the crud in there that was neglected from the PO. No complaints thus far, it eliminated the slipping issues I was experiencing.

I use Valvoline Full Synthetic Dex IV. Drain and refill like 2 quarts, maybe a little more, at each oil change. Eventually all the fluid in there will be brand new and synthetic.
