Would it be OK to use 80/90 gear oil than 75/90.
Reason being is I can get it at work from the GSE department and those mechanics said it will be just fine, but still want a second opinion.
By the way it is Castrol/Axle Limited Slip gear oil SAE 80W-90.

I believe there's a TSB somewhere buried in TIS about how Toyota okays 80W-90 because 75W-90 was difficult to get or something...

I don't remember...

Point being, you should be good.

Thanks guys did my research (Google) and found out a lot of people use 80/90 and should be good to go and the best part is it is free. I even got a thing to pump it into the fill holes. :)

i think that is what toyota use, its standard oil right? most members here on the forum use 75 90 since its synthetic and its available at the local auto store. i use the lucas oil brand since it was cheap when buying in gallon jugs off summitracing.

That is what I have come to conclusion is that is what Toyota does use but the synthetic almost always comes in 75/90

Another thing is my supervisor use to work at Toyota and then here with me and told me when you go to change your differential fluids hit the plugs with a rivet gun or impact gun for one second and that does the trick.

Apparently Toyota wants us to use a 85W-95 Synthetic fluid according to a TSB I found... I don't think I've ever seen a 85W-95 in the stores...or at our dealership for that matter, most all 75W-90

Well just did my rear diff and transfer case and lubed the driveshaft's, will do the front as soon as I get a 10 MM hex head socket.
My plugs came out real easy I thought I was going to need a impact or at least hit them with a rivet gun and air hammer to loosen them but I sprayed penetrant fluid before for about 2 hours soak time and they just came right out.
This was such a easy job.
Like I said next is the front then a tranny flush and new plugs.
By the way Mileage is 125,042
