another hard starter

Have a 93 4Runner V6, since new. Has about 160k miles. Always had maintenance at manual-specified intervals. I'm up here in Canada near the end of a cold winter. I'm semi-retired and work Tue, Wed & Thursday. If I drive the truck daily then no problem, starts right away. But if I miss a day or two then it's a bugger to start. So two questions please:
1. Does the fuel pump start pumping when you turn on the ignition or
when you turn key to start?

2. It seems as though it isn't getting gas, like its drained away or
lost pressure. Is this plausible?

I dont know the answer to your first question. As to Question 2- it is possible for the fuel injection system to lose pressure when sitting, which could produce the problem you describe. You could have-
a pinhole leak on a fuel line
defective fuel pressure regulator- usually hole in diaphragm
bad check valve in fuel pump letting fuel drain back into tank
Best place to start is to read out the OBS diagnostic codes using the Check Engine light. They will narrow it down for you, because while it sounds to me like a fuel issue, it could be something else, too.

solution: dealer pulled tank & found a bad kink in the fuel line, just as it goes into tank. 2 years ago another dealer replaced fuel & brake lines (& kinked it!). So fuel pump worked like hell & beat itself to death.

the 07 brake & fuel line work replacement order is generic, but substantial - $800 labour - $265 parts

when a customer asks for fuel & brake line replacement would that factory mandate/guidline necessitate dropping the fuel tank on a 93 4runner? optional??
