Hey Erwin what ever you were trying to post in the SoCal section for yesterday's run didn't show. Just an FYI.

After checking the manual (RTFM) I see I made a mistake in my prior post. Multi-Terrain is disabled when the locker is on but A-trac works. I think I will use this as a guide:
For most of the trail, 4H and Multi-Terrain set to Sand. Turn off RSCA, Trac and VSC.
For the good parts - 4L, Multi-Terrain set to Loose Rock, Mogul or Rock.
If the locker is on, then use Atrac because Multi-Terrain is disabled.
Are all the controls on the Trail too complicated? ---

So if I went on trips like these is getting skids and sliders needed or suggested? I gotta save up, Savage Off Road looks like they have nice full skids, sliders, and a nice rear bumper (I have a good front bumper already).
Also are you guys all using CBs?

I especially like that part where Bryce got stuck after taking the easy line. It was almost as good as the part where I stalled it trying to crawl over the rock :thumb3:

The harder stuff you see in this video/pictures was all optional. For runs like this one, you could do it stock (and I think some guys were stock) and you would be fine.
I think I was the only one out there with a CB this time.
If you do get skids, I can personally recommend the Savage ones. I did Carveacre trail/pancake rock the day after this run, and I set it down hard a couple times on my Savage skids. They broke the rocks they hit, and came out with just a couple scuff marks, no dents. I can't say the same for my stock gas tank skid :ybrick:

Recently? I've seen pictures and videos of that trail from back in September, and while it's hard to judge from videos, both me and the guy I did the trail with agreed that the trail difficulty now is higher than it looked in the videos. We both came out with some damage, although different line choices probably could have gotten me through it unscathed, but then that wouldn't have been as much fun. We're thinking the rains might have rutted it out more.
A close to stock Cherokee was trying the trail on the same day, and he had to be rescued, even taking the easy lines :noidea: He also sustained some pretty heavy damage.
Either way, if bluecollarjock wants to get a set of skids that he won't be afraid to lay it down on, the Savage ones seem to work well.

Savage skids are definitely the way to go. They will be the company I go with for most of my armor.

Wow that is complicated! :wow: Here is how I operate my 88: Can't make it in 2wd, shift into 4wd. Still can't make it, shift into 4low. :thumb:
