today TRS shrouds came in. so i closed up one of the headlamps. then started on the second one.

pointers
-1000 grit snad paper and some water will scuff up the bezels nicely so you can black them out.
-make your holes. test fits BEFORE you paint the bezels. this way you dont scratch them up moving it around.
-i used SEM landau black spray paint

here are the two "eyes" in the headlamp bezel

now its in the headlamp housing

closed up. go buy some clamps. small $2 from home depot or lowes. makes your life a lot easier. Also no oven was used, just a good ole heat gun. it was open in 3 minutes. closing it up too about 5-7 with a head gun too.

Too much reflection so the pictures dont look as sexy as they do in real life.

both projectors are set level with the old halogen lowbeam lamp. was going to take pictures but my cell phone was running out of batteries so tomorrow going to work earlier to finish up the other side and take some more pictures.

Looking really good. Can't wait to see the finished product. It looks like the E55 projector is larger than the Morimoto but it's going in the smaller 'high beam' headlight bucket? Just wondering if that's just your preference or if mounting depth or any other factors came into play. Also - how do the eagle eye parts compare to OEM? I was under the impression OEM units were better built and preferred for these retro projects. Obviously the cons being more expensive. I don't have any first hand experience with aftermarket units though so it's all based on other folks feedback.

Not questioning your decisions, btw - just curious as to why so that when/if I do a retrofit I'll be better informed.

The demon eyes is a cool trick. I think Zak did that too, right? Keep up the nice work!

eagle eyes are junk. they cheap and they serve a purpose. to be retrofitted LoL.

teaser pic. no morimoto in yet since the gatlin gun 2.0 shroud is LARGE so a mini gatlin gun shroud is enroute from trs right now.

BTW, I think you mentioned you work at a shop right? Do you work on anything else besides your own truck at work? lololol :jk:

Yeah I do this in my free time, lol. Been raining here in Vermont and been overcast. Since I'm on vacation didn't have time to take it. They look bad asssss

Cost for project retrofit

Materials and cost breakdown:

Sealing and paint and stuff:
  1. DAP Dynaflex 230 $5 DAP Dynaflex 230 Sealant - White 5.5 oz
  2. SEM Landau Black Spray Paint $10. something i have in stock Buy SEM Paints Color Coat - Landau Black Aerosol SEM15013 at Advance Auto Parts
  3. 3m window weld sealant $15 3M® 8610 - Window-Weld? Round Ribbon Sealer | O'Reilly Auto Parts
So about $30 in materials that is enough for you to do a life time of retrofits. I also bought some long 8/32 x 2" truss head bolts and nuts to install my E55 projectors $4

Hard parts this is where YMMV(your mods may vary)
  1. morimoto mini h1 6.0 projector kit $120 comes with shroud choice Bi-xenon: Morimoto Mini H1 6.0 - HID Projectors from The Retrofit Source Inc
  2. Your favorite HID kit from ebay. ddmtuning ect and in your favorite color. I did 6000k H1 $85
  3. OEM BMW 550i headlamps harvested the Hella E55 projectors, free. trs copy $150 per pair and no shrouds. i used gatlin 2.0 on mine Bi-xenon: Hella EvoX-R - HID Projectors from The Retrofit Source Inc
  4. Eagle Eye Reaplacement headlamps $79 ebay, New 03 05 Toyota 4 Runner Headlights Headlamps Pair New Set | eBay
  5. trs gatlin gun 2.0 shrouds for my bmw projectors $40
  6. red led for my demon eyes $5, free since i had left over from previous project.
  7. LED light bar $90

So bi xenon retrofit price, not including mods
QUAD pricing $560
Single Bi-Xenon $285

Price difference between the two retrofits is the cost of the second projector and hid kit to go with it.

NOTE:
Quality of the eagle eye headlamps is cheap. it serves a purpose. to be a organ donator
HID kits can come cheaper and more expensive. so your price will vary from mine
Demon eyes, halos, angel eyes, ect all these mods can jack the price up.
Just for reference, since if i had to duplicate this retrofit, it would cost, no labor almost $600 for quads and $350 for bixenon.

For the demon eyes how many SMD strips did you use and how did you mount them?
