The economy will improve when people believe it is improving. The economy will boom again, and all it takes is for people to think its going to boom or booming. Vicious circle of fear... Less spending which equals less jobs, which leads to even less spending.
We just need people to believe and be excited about America's future. It will happen, just a question of when, who, how and how long this da** recession will last. I think we just need a couple sparks on the right kindling - ya know?

The reality is that the economy has been out of a recession since 2009.
The problem is that the recovery has not been felt in all economic groups. The very rich and large business have done VERY well since late 2009 posting huge and in some cases RECORD profits... All while they off shore jobs and wealth.
The average working Joe and small business owners are really hurting out their.
People are FED UP.
The protests on WallStreet are just the start of this frustration.

yes but you had better major in something with a valuable skill because unless you are a trust fund baby you willleave with $50,000+ of debt.
one of my friends got his masters in computer science, particularly coding search algorithms and working with "big data" storage systems. he makes over $150k in SF.
I dont make that much and am not a coder but MY POINT is that majoring in phych, art, lit, communications, conflict management ...whatever is not going to pay the bills.
grad school today can be just as much of a risk as an asset.

i think that's why alot of people are pissed at these OWS kids is because they are spending 80-100k on years of schooling in fields that will never be able to pay them enough to pay off their student loans, i don't call that risky, i call that stupid or how about those kids start at entry level positions and get the not so dream job and just make some money? college is not a guaranteed job in any given field it's an opportunity to get a job in that field.
if you've been out of college for 3 years and still can't find that job that pays 80-100k a year then f' it try something else for a while and take refresher courses until you can find that job, i don't care what you do just contribute, sitting on lawns whining the world isn't what you thought it was going to be does no one any good.
and all of this finical stuff is no bother to me at this point, i have always lived with in my means, payed off all of my credit cards 5-6 years ago, all of my trucks and cars are 10+ years old, meaning they are payed for,cheap to insure, and low initial purchase cost also have zero debt besides my mortgage payment of a meager $800 a month, from being smart with interest rates and my credit over the years.
my 401k is fully invested and i own 3 assault rifles,2 shot guns and 3 pistols.
that last part is important to this conversation, the way i see it, is either everything is going to recover and i'm buying stocks as cheap as they will ever been in maybe my lifetime or the whole thing is going to crash and we're in soup lines fighting and hunting for our food, so best thing to do now is buy guns and buy stocks with your 401k....this is coming from a "classic" liberal here...i never owned a gun until a couple years ago...it's just the way i see the state of the world right now...
