Another Shrockworks how long thread

Wondered if anyone is having better luck than me. Ordered sliders for 5thGen TE on June 8 (and paid for them.) Called about a month later to ask about the front bumper. Asked about the sliders and was told it's been 4 weeks so they should be going out in another 4...theyre taking about 8 weeks.

August 8 (the 8 weeks I was told was estimated ship) called. Told "they're going out for powder coating and should ship out in about 2 weeks.

Fast forward 2 weeks called again.
Me: I called a couple of weeks ago and was told my sliders would ship in 2 weeks...could you please give me the status

SW: Hang on..I'll go out back and check.........came back and said"They're going out for powder coating. They should ship in a couple of weeks."

Me: uhhh..That's what you told me 2 weeks ago.

SW: "yes it's the same thing"...whatever that is.

I was going to order the bumper but I don't need or want it so bad that I'm going to pay for materials, labor and shipping up front and wait 3 months plus to maybe get it.

So we'll see when it gets here (unless I can source a set that will guarantee a delivery...then I'll cancel the SW.)

Great looking products in the pics but not coming close to being able to estimate a ship date? Scares me more than a little.

Is anyone getting anything close to when they say they're delivering lately?

I just got my sliders last week...a full 15 weeks after ordering them. So, I spent a month and a half e-mailing and calling Shrockworks. You will get the same story told over and over on the threads here. IMO 15 weeks is a bit outrageous for sliders which they have been producing for some time now, but what are you going to do? They told me the same thing about going to p.c. 3 or 4 times...which seems to be their standard modus operandi...not the most professional tactic.

I finally got my tracking info, my sliders were supposed to arrive on a Friday, so I took off work to sign for them and start installing them. After 15 weeks of waiting UPS had a mishap and forgot to put the sliders on the delivery truck and after a call to UPS they told me they were sorry and I wouldn't get them until Monday. WTF? Long story short, I drove out to the distribution center picked them up and installed them on Saturday, only to discover a very small dent on one of the sliders. What am I going to do now? No way I'm shipping them back and waiting God-knows-how-long to get a replacement. The whole Shrockworks experience was a bit exhausting and although I think their products are great, I won't be purchasing from them again.

So what is the build time going to be on a bumper? I shutter to even think about how long you'd be waiting. Almost 4 months for sliders that they've been producing for a year + now? If I were a betting man, I'd guess that you'd be waiting the better part of a year. Good luck!

I purchased the plated bumper for my 3rd gen from shrockworks and like every other customer on this site I had terrible customer service. It turned out to be about a week shy of a 6 month wait for it. I also got the same sugar-coated answers and incorrect ship times. After a couple angry phone calls I was able to have them throw in the bumper clevis option that I did not order intially and a discount on shipping cost along with a couple tee shirts and a windshield sticker.

It was a experiance that was frustrating. Although I am happy with my product, I would never think to shop there again

I'm hoping Shrockworks is reading this. By misleading your customers on lead-times you're causing long-term damage to your reputation.

If you were honest about the wait you might lose a few orders, but you would save a ton of time in answering angry customer phone calls/e-mails and build your reputation as a high-demand high-quality company. Instead now everyone thinks "it will take a long time and they'll lie to you the whole way."

I think everyone that ever orders anything from them knows going in that it is going to take some time to get the product. I bought sliders on May 2 not expecting to receive them until November, in fact I was hoping I wouldnt get them until at the earliest September.

Do you know how long it takes to hand build a Rolls Royce? The Shrockworks products are awesome. I know, I know it's just welding, but these things are awesome. It takes time to build this stuff, and this is a small compnay. Compare to the others out there that might get sliders to you in a couple of days and why you prefer the Shrockworks over the rest of them....it's because they are better. They are better built, better engineered, and more thought and care goes into their construction.

Put on your Big Boy panties and be glad that companies, like Shrockworks, Gobi, and so many others that support us are out there.

Thanks, soap box kicked away!!!:dammit: :bigok:

Been wanting to order a set of sliders from them for sometime but was deterred by the legendary wait time. Their dishonesty is what really truly stopped me. I refuse to support perpetuate that type of behavior. Happy to say i just found a local outfit thats gonna build a set for me.

Yes it takes 3-4 months to hand build a rolls Royce, apparantely the same amount of time for Shrockworks to build sliders. Great products, bad service...

I ordered mine in early June (the day after I bought my truck) and have still not received them. They took about 3 months last time when I ordered some for my Xterra. Excellent product, just wish they would hire more labor or implement more efficient systems to speed up production a bit.

Not everyone hangs out on forum to know this, that is silly and bad excuse for poor CS. Hire an extra guy and bang the welding out and save the reputation. Odds are business is lost by threads like this.

Rolls Royce, not even going to touch this analogy. I got big boy pants on as you suggest. This big boy says follow through and good communication are key. Crap happens, things get delayed, but this should not be standard business protocol of course IMHO.

Agree with this. I see this alot with independent bike manufacturers - where it's one guy welding the frame. Backlogs measuring from months to years in some cases. Everyone wants to support the little guy, but at a certain point the customer's time and money needs to be respected too.

I love the new bumper design. But I'm not going to buy one until they can provide a concrete delivery date. It's one thing to tell your customers that there is a 6 week lead time, with delivery in 9 weeks, for example. It's complete bullsh*t to give customers the kind of runaround, or even flat out lies, that they have been giving. It's not just here, but on every forum where people buy their products.

I guarantee you that Rolls Royce does not operate in this way. Shrockworks has a problem and if they don't address it aggressively, they will continue to lose business.

Absolutely. This is actually an opportunity for a competitor to start taking their business away. I know there are competitors already out there but the quality isn't quite up to Shrockworks from what I hear. The only reason I went with them is because their products have worked well for me in the past. I would ditch them in a second if a competitor had an equivalent product with a more reasonable ETA.

Are you listening Shrockworks?!

I have to +1 on the great product, but getting the run-around on delivery date. My sliders took over 3 months to get after I was told they would take 6 weeks. When I would call I got the same "They will go out next week" multiple times.

Shockworks is listening but they dont care. Why would they, everybody keeps buying there stuff.

Until they really see business suffer, nothing will change. The reason why this is happening is because they are too busy. They would probably welcome less orders!!!!!!!!!!!

It sure as hell ain't no Rolls....

Reality is, it's metal..welded....powder coated and shipped...no real hardcore logistics there.

The truth would go a long way...most adults don't have a problem with that. They provide lots of different parts, well made, for many different vehicles. As Mike says, I think I'll wait until they figure out a way to produce their products in a timely manner......it's a joke to have to wait 3-4 months for a set of sliders. Leads me to believe the bumper would be even longer. I will have a SW's bumper, but not until they figure out how to get em' out.

Nice products?...without a doubt.....but BFLAN nailed it.

But it's your money, and it is a nice product, just don't get deadset on strapping it on your truck to quick.

I don't have a problem with a long lead time on a quality product. What I have a problem with is financing their operation by paying in full up front when they can't keep to their promised delivery date and then string you along as the delivery date comes and goes. If that's the case, they shouldn't be taking payment in full up front. Like a few here have said, regardless of the product's quality, I refuse to reward that type of business practice. Curious if anyone on this forum (besides Gadget) has installed Budbuilts? They look pretty beefy and well made.

Been there

SW has a small shop in Houston, they build parts that are nice too have, but don't replace groceries. So they are very much affected by the present economic condition. I believe that Jim is doing everything that he can to grow his business. They have recently added new machines and this allowed them to move the outside work (performed at bigger fab shops) back in house. This was done to address the turn around and cost.

It cost a lot more money to buy small quantities of materials, so it is not unreasonable to wait until you have several orders to buy materials. Additionally, if they were to build out a bunch of bumpers it would require a substanial investment of materials and resources and tie up a lot of working capital. A lot of small businesses fail in times like these, so it is not unreasonable that orders take a bit longer.

I have been to the SW shop several times, everybody that works there is hard-working, very professional and helpful. They are all working hard to build the SW business. I have a hard time believing they would intentionally mislead anyone.

Believe it or not, there are people on the interenet (even in this forum) that are not 100% as knowlegible, nor as honest, as they claim to be. It's appalling isn't it?

So, try not to hate on them ... be patient if you have placed an order, you will have some well-made stuff on your rig in no time.

If they lie to customers like that it will catch back up with them. No worries there hahah. Dollar votes!

I was apart of the SW group buy last year and all I can say is they did give a lengthy wait time but they delivered on time. The people that didn't get their sliders on time got 10% back. I ordered the winch bumper on 7/25, they said 12 weeks, so lets see if they deliver.

I think its worth the wait, they make some great products.
