Another Stereo Install

Tomorrow morning I plan to start my stereo installation.

I will be installing this:

And this: (just laid out for spacing/fitment not yet mounted)

(You can see the 4 gauge power in the picture that will be coming out in favour of the 0 gauge...I installed the 4 gauge a while ago and things have escalated since then.)

Into my 2012 4runner. As you can see I ditched the sliding tray to accomplish this...this is the result:

I'm no carpenter...but it will work.

I am thinking I'll try to run my signal cables down the centre with power down the drivers side. I will be running 0 gauge power so that should be fun...

I have already deadened the front doors so I'll be doing the rears this week and installing a layer of acoustic foam as well.

I'm terrible at remembering to take pictures when I'm in the middle of something but if I can manage to get enough decent ones I'll post them up.

Is that a 6.9? You going active 3 way on the front? Ironically I just spoke to a fellow last week about doing a very similar setup and layout. What are your sub enclosure plans?

No 6x9s. 8" round in front doors and 3" in dash locations. The other box is a 5.25" for rear fill.

Active 2 way but without tweeters. I may go to a 3 way in the future if I decide I want to pony up to have my a pillars modified for tweeters...

What was the setup you discussed last week? Sounds interesting...

Oh right and sub enclosure will be a fiberglass box on passenger side behind wheel arch...It's a Morel Ultimo 12 so it may have to use some space above the arch as well we will see. I'm having a shop do that component of it they're taking the mould on wednesday.

I may go three way front and ditch the rear speakers, I have all the stuff to do it sitting here but I can't make up my mind. I don't think the pillars would look right in 3 way configuration. If I go 3 way I have an elate 9 3way set sitting around too. I'm also on the fence about the sub. I have an idMax in my tundra now and love it, but would like a little more so I thought maybe a couple 10" jbl gtis in the 4runner. Those I don't have and I don't want to spend even more so it may end up the idmax for now.

Ohh gotcha haha.

That's an audison lrx4.1k. Should be the same (minus one channel) as the 5.1k you have I think?

Some really nice gear you have there! I have Hertz MLK165 and HCX or whatever they're called in the rear. Love that setup. The supremos will be a lot in the doors!

I wanted the bit one but found a good deal on this masconi unit so figured I'd try it out.

I considered the elates for this install too. I have some morel integer ovation 4" point source drivers sitting around too that I was considering using but I don't want to battle the mounting in the dash for them.

When are you doing the install? Are you keeping the factory HU?

Dude you and me both. I dream of the esotar setup but here is just no way in hell I can afford that. It took me two years, (literally I bought the elate 9s the day after I bought the 4runner) to get all of this together. It's gonna be another 2k for the install... I just don't have the wood working equipment any longer to do what I want. And I suck at fiberglassong stuff.

Keep us updated, I am super stoked about your install. You will love those JL HDs. I also want to hear your impressions of the ultimo. I hear that's a seemless SQ sub, and while that's 99.9% of what I do, I fear I'd be unhappy that .01% of the time. Actually it's my wife had the audacity to say my idMax wasn't loud enough in my tundra and now I feel like less of a man. So I'm gonna overdo it in her car.

Is there anyone else running a set up like this?
Hows the staging? I lie the idea. But I might do 3.5 coaxs. Really don't want to spend 1500$ on my front stage, but I might have too. The Illusion C3CX and the C8 looks like a great set up, but damn I don't want to spend that much, I think.
